I would like to incorporate almond milk into our family diet (to replace cows milk). Can you recommend a brand that seems best to you? One that tastes good and has minimal added ingredients (besides almonds and water). Thanks!
Good brand of almond milk?
My daughter cannot eat cane sugar. I also choose to stay away from carageenan because it can be an intestinal irritant. There are only two almond milks I can find without those products: Silk unsweetened which is sold in the refrigerator section of most grocery stores. Also Trader Joe's has a vanilla almond milk in their refrigerator section.
You could make your own almond milk. http://vegetarian.about.com/od/rawfoodsrecipes/r/almondmilk.htm I haven't tried that recipe, I've just heard almond milk with dates might be better than homemade almond milk without dates. I've heard some people add calcium, B12, etc. to homemade almond milk, but I don't know how they do it.
I don't think I've tried a brand I didn't like. We nearly always buy Whole Foods/365 brand unsweetened almond milk, because it is cheaper than most of the others and organic on top of that. We love it. We have also enjoyed Blue Diamond and Silk Almond. So Delicious is coming out with a protein-enriched almond milk that I am enthused to try, because the protein is pea protein, not soy; I haven't seen it in my local stores yet, though.
I would assume that her children's entire diet does not solely consist of almond milk.
