Dollhouse doll body

I am making dollhouse dolls- in a style like ryan's room and plan toys dolls. Right now I am planning on using wooden beads or balls for heads as well as hand braided cord (kumichmo) with embedded pipe cleaners (I tried just wire, but the wire moved around too much). I'll use yarn for hair and will hand make the clothes. I like to pretend I'm crafty, but I tend to be a bit crafting challenged!

I need to figure out three things. First is how to color the wood a flesh tone (ranging from pale to dark- I know paint is an option but I think some sort of varnish would look nicer?), what to use to make the body, and what to use to make the feet. The knot at the beginning of the cord will make nice hands, but I don't think it will work well for feet. It may be that I can wrap the cords in such a way I won't need a body base (that just occurred to me, lol). I'm haven't found a tutorial that meets my needs, so this is pretty much going to be trial and error- the more ideas, the better!

I do understand your problem and i do understand the complexity in designing the Doll of your choice. My sister went through the same! She used to keep thinking the whole day about a way out.Then once i was going through the online sites for baby toys and looking for a solution to it. I saw this site hushbabies which sells all baby needs... I checked out the softoys they had. N u will be happy to know that i bought almost all kind of softoys and gave it to my sister. At once she got annoyed as to why did i purchased it from outside. But when she got to know that they were so economical and i didn't had to go n search for it then she was overjoyed.I would suggest you to go for the same. It'll be a great help for you!!
