My BF's 5 year old does not seem to understand the concept of punishment.
Despite the loss of toys, loss of fun activities or time spent in the corner he simply cries, fights us and then goes about his business as if it doesn't matter. It's almost like he knows it will just be over in a bit. When punished he will fight for whatever he's lost and attempt to find loopholes and drag out the conversation but no matter how many times you tell him why he lost it he'll do the same thing 5 mins later.
Despite positive re-enforcement such as a rewards system or praise. Though it could last for a day or so depending on what's more interesting to him, he takes it in stride but will quickly take a turn for the worse.
He's been kicked off the bus multiple times, the teachers have had to restrain him and take him out of regular classroom activities on a daily basis and we've had multiple meetings with the school to discuss possible actions.
Upon his last doctors visit it was claimed he was not a candidate for ADHD or ADD or anything of that sort so at this point I feel hopeless like he's just a bad kid.
We really could use help.
