My boobs are working!!

I've been checking lately since I've heard it could start to happen and today they actually let out fluid- very clear and VERY thick.

I'm 24+2 weeks.

It's kind of a nice milestone to hit...

Mine are too!! Usually I have colostrum (trure, thick yellow colostrum) at 19wks but this time it has been slower. At 20wks I started having clear liquid, very sticky, and that is still all I have. It is still nice though because since it has come in it doesn't hurt as bad to nurse.

I've been getting the clear stuff for about a month. But, I've been having thick white stuff (nearly solid) since like 7 weeks. I can still get the white, but that's separate from the clear. The thing that kinda weirds me out about it though, is most of the time it comes from where I used to have my nips pierced. So, basically, I do hand compressions, and white comes out the sides, and clear comes out the top. I've had the piercings out since the very beginning of October, and I only had them pierced for about 4 months. I know they say having piercings doesn't compromise breastfeeding, and I took them out even a few days before I knew I had conceived. I'm confident it's not some sort of infection, but then again, I'm NOT confident it's really colostrum as it's pure white and not yellow-y. I'm not totally sure WHAT'S going on there.

Nice!

I just checked mine and nothing yet.  I did have a bit in the beginning, but I had stopped nursing a month before I conceived, so that's probably why.

Here too!

This thread has prompted me to check my own boobs, lol.  My youngest is still nursing, but it's a quick thing (don't worry, sweetie, they're still there).  I was assuming all my milk was gone, since a couple of weeks ago I could get NOTHING out.  Lo and behold, today there was a drop of colostrum.

i dont actually leak but i have been getting the plugs for a week now. my holes in my nipples get the solid colostrum plugs but i cant actually get anything out. my nipples have started hurting again esp the mound right behind them. after 4 kids i didnt think i needed to grow anywhere in there anymore.

i had my nipples pierced for years before getting preg with dd1. i took them out at about 4 months and hadnt put them back in since. i tried a couple of times but they healed up in the middle to allow milk flow. my milk does flow out of the side holes too. that can get messy, lol, when baby pops off during a letdown. but not a big deal. i have nursed 2 babies since getting them pierced. your body will make sure they way is open. right  now i get the plugs in my side holes the same as in the nipple holes. only it is whiter and the nipple plugs are more yellow. it was that way last time too.

Right on Lioness. You made me feel a lot better about what's goin on with me. I still wonder why it's a different color from the piercing holes, but now at least I know someone else is goin through the same thing.

sure. i am not sure why the difference in color either. i know when my milk comes in that the piercing holes have thicker whiter milk than the nipple holes do. i never gave it much thought. i know that while nursing i do get the plugs but i do when not nursing. even before i got preg with dd1. if i didnt have the piercings in i would get the plugs. but it isnt the same as a healing ear plug. i know i get lots more milk out at a time and dd1 had problems getting too much. dd2 did not have problems though. she liked it just fine. i would leak out of the holes while having let down. wouldnt spray but it did drip  like a leaky faucet. a really leaky faucet. but if i pressed my finger in to the middle of my nipple and held it, it would stop the leak from all holes. i would always soak a pad and had to use them at night along with sleeping on something absorbent with waterproof backing, for at least the first 3 months. most of that is my supply, but it didnt hurt that i had extra holes (and they are larger than the nipple holes too) to leak out of. i dont know if it works like that for all women but that is my experience. i think my nipples are adjusting around the piercings again this time. after not having my breasts hurt for several months they now ache again in the pad right beneath the nipple. right behind the piercing. i havent worn jewelry in there for more than 5 years.
