So I thought I'd ask, what do you all do with your babies?

One thing Stephanie loves is to smell things. Actually, we all like Stephanie to smell things. She will grab your hand and hold it close so she can keep smelling a carrot or banana or some chocolate and she wrinkles her nose and turns her head from pickles, oysters and tomato juice! I usually give her a sniff or two of whatever I'm eating, not everything gets a big reaction but I think it's interesting to her anyway. DS wanted to let her sniff pepper, the little shit!

We've started reading to her. She likes Goodnight Moon the best, I think because it's got lots of bright colours. She likes listening to DD1 do her home reading, too.

This is good...I have just been thinking Naomi is bored lately. She does seem to like peek a boo, and she loves imitating silly faces (like sticking your tongue out and she sticks hers out too), she likes batting at toys so I'm buying her a toy bar this week...and loves her hands. I let her sniff what I'm eating  too...mostly just to be silly - I had never thought that she probably is interested by it! She also loves to hold her glow worm and watch the face as it lights up and likes the feeling of soft blankets in her fingers (but mostly when she's sleepy)

I offer things to smell, but he doesn't seem to notice.  That's cool that Stephanie makes faces.

We sing songs.  He gets big grins and starts talking when I sing.  He has favorite songs already, I swear.

He likes a purple monkey toy that makes squeaky noises when you shake it/he manages to hit it.

We go for a lot of walks, but he usually ends up sleeping.

He loves to just kick, kick, kick and punch his arms around and twist his body.  Other than singing/talking, that's probably his favorite thing.  He can spend a good half hour entertaining himself that way.

I read to him more when he was younger.  I should try it again.

This, except for a purple monkey. W doesnt really seem interested in any toys yet, and he can't quite figure out his hands either. We got him a black and white board book that he likes to look at, and he's getting really interested in what's outside, but his awake times are still quite short, and he wears himself out kicking.
Oh, he also loves to be petted and when DH pinches and tickles his thigh chub.

Tenley has really only been in control of her hands the last week or so, and now she'll grab for toys a bit. The only one she -really- likes is "peek squeak" http://www.manhattantoy.com/product/206937/205160/_/Peek-Squeak_Monkey  and mostly just his squeaker. She also has a little dog that crinkles, that she likes the noises of, and this god awful crib toy that plays lullabys and the animals move that my MIL got that she likes to stare at. I hate it and the idea of it, but if she likes it... *shrug*

Also, DH watched a baby einstein video with her before I noticed, and while I did not want her to be watching any tv stuff this early, seeing how absolutely enthralled she was with it, I can't take it away. Now it's the only way I get to eat breakfast and check my email in the morning, is while she's watching an episode. I try to feel better about it, because I watch it with her and talk about everything we're seeing.

We spend a lot of time just trying to keep her on this side of happy. If I have to make myself food in the kitchen, I put her in her chair and put music on, and dance around like a lunatic. She likes that. But not if I don't dance like a lunatic... that seems to be the key! lol

Really likes it when daddy sneezes. And she's starting to pay attention to the dog. So cute!

The toy interest is very, very new.  O doesn't really seem to have hand control either, but he can get his fingers in his mouth pretty often now and for all his random jabs, he seems to hit things pretty often.

He's also a sleepy guy.  Sometimes at night I'm bummed that the day is over because it feels like we barely got to do anything together even though we were together all day.  :)

Oh, it makes me nervous that other babies don't seem to notice smells... I may have another picky eater on my hands!

DD2 is really interested in the big kids... the other day I had her in the highchair and DD1 and my after school care kid piled all her toys onto the tray and around her, and pretended it was a toy store and Stephanie was the shop keep! She was totally enthralled for a solid 20 minutes.

I bought Naomi a toy gym (or whatever its called...the little thing that toys hand from) today and put her under it while I made dinner..she fussed for about a minute and then fell asleep...I hope she wasn't overwhelmed by it!
