I feel like it has been forever since I have formally done one of these, so here goes!  Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with this thread this week!

Name: forest mushroom

Weeks/Days along: 30 weeks & 3 days: only 66 days to go!

Appointments: I need to reschedule... !

Symptoms: hmm... other then feeling huge and bending over is no fun...

Food: Rice pudding!  Green smoothies.... steak!

Exercise: walking... yoga...

Body changes and other milestones: I can't believe my EDD will be here is 66 days!  that just seems wild.

Thoughts: I have been so busy this past week, it is crazy... and nothing is slowing down.  All I want to do is clean and organize my house, and declutter... but by the time I am done doing all the basic stuff and working I am tired.  Taking an extra iron sup has done wonders for my energy level... but still.. I am tired at night and enjoying sleeping and practicing hypnobabies.

But it really feels like we are in the final stretch here!  March and then April.... and then Baby!

So I have a question for working mamas, how much time are you taking off?  I need to negotiate my leave, since I'm independent and have no state protection/guaranteed maternity leave.  Most of my contracts are cool, but I still keep thinking I'll be able to do some work after 3 weeks... is that just totally insane?  I'd like DH to take time off when I start working again, just to help with the 2.5 year-old and fetching the other kids from school... but I don't know if that is just crazy...

I don't have to commute anywhere and can work at home with baby--so it isn't like I have to be presentable and go to an office... but still... ? Will my brain be function then?

Weeks/Days along: 30w 3d! aaaah

Appointments: OB office on Thursday, midwives next Monday

Symptoms: a huge belly, mostly! my body is also slowing down a bit. a lot of movement is awkward.

Food: I feel hungry a lot. it's nothing like the second trimester, but I do have a healthy appetite and I'm surprised at how much I can eat in a sitting. I'm eating mostly good stuff but I need to figure out how to stop eating sugar every day.

Exercise: still climbing, and not doing so badly! not walking as much (poor planning and busy from school, mostly). I would like to work on walking more this week.

Body changes and other milestones: my belly is growing ridiculously. I'm having weekly (at least) growth spurts. I'm bigger all around, and I'm still a little shocked when I look in the mirror - my face looks a lot rounder! no stretch marks on my belly... yet. I definitely have some on my thighs and breasts, but I have no idea if they're old or what (they're pearly and skin-colored).

Thoughts:

I'm getting by. home renovation stuff is still happening but thankfully no contractors in and out of the house for now. the quarter at school is almost over, I just need to get through it. I'm starting the hypnobabies home course tonight. we start homebirth classes in a couple weeks. I just bought 4 pounds of red raspberry leaf (and lots of nettle, oatstraw, spearmint, alfalfa) to make infusions. I'm working on a baby blanket and I'm really enjoying it. I'm collecting lots of diapers and need to wash everything. I'm starting to seriously consider names, which is very comforting. family is starting to buy tickets and plan their trips here.

it's getting real.

Weeks/Days along: 27w4d...it's going by SO fast!

Appointments: 28-week appointment on Wednesday.  I get to take the fun glucose test!

Symptoms: Definitely increased appetite!  Last week I had to get up several times to eat early morning.  I have definitely slowed down and it's been hard for me to accept.  I have too many things that I want/need to do!

Food: Last week nothing sounded good AT ALL...except chicken salad.  So I ate homemade chicken salad sandwiches several times.

Exercise: Walking and gardening.  The Braxton-Hicks really start up when I go for a walk.  Hopefully this will mean for an easy labor and delivery???

Body changes and other milestones: I really can't believe that I look pregnant.  For some reason I thought it'd never happen.  The first maternity shirt I bought is starting to get slightly small...it's kinda sad-haha.  I've been finding some good second-hand clothing at various thrift stores around here.

Thoughts: I have a feeling March is going to go by quickly.  We have a couple of appointments, plus the hospital tour.  I'm also going to start painting the nursery this week  (no worries I wear a respirator!).

Weeks - 30! Yikes! We've told everyone but my parents that I'm due 5/15, but my EDD is actually 5/6...when people ask me the number of weeks, I tell the truth though, which is really confusing everyone! :-)

Appointments: Maternal fetal specialist next Tuesday to do a level 2 u/s. I have a probably single artery umbilical cord, which could possibly affect some organ development. I am feeling positive that this baby is healthy and have put off this appointment for a few months, but I'm ready to get it over with and know for sure at this point. My hoped-for homebirth will be more fun to plan if I know for sure it's going to happen...Midwife next Thursday to follow up and have my normal checkup. My 2yo dd told me this morning that it was time for the midwife to listen to the baby again! :-)

Symptoms: Just starting to feel like I'm in my 3rd trimester. I was on my feet a lot last week and felt really wiped out. HIP PAIN in the mornings - ow! Some pretty annoying restless leg/pre-cramping feelings when I go to bed at night. Yoga before bed seems to help a bit with the hip and leg issues. Hopefully I'll get better at doing this more often.

Food: Lots of sugar cravings! I need to get better at fighting them because I get yeast infections really easily if I eat too much sugar. :-(

Body Changes - giant belly! A ton of my size medium shirts are already too short! Yikes!

Thoughts: We're home from our family vacation to Mexico that I frantically planned for months, so I'm ready to concentrate on this baby now! I can't believe how close this birth is already. I started reading my Hypnobirthing book, but that's about all of the planning that I've had time for. I need to get out baby clothes, clean out the spare room downstairs, maybe freeze some meals...or not...;-)

Forest Mushroom - I'm planning on 12 weeks off of work at this point. Depending on how early or late the baby is, I may do 8 or 10 weeks off full time and then go back to work part time for another month or two. I did this with dd and it worked out okay. I have a big event at work the first two weeks of August and haven't decided if I'm going to skip it yet or not. It would definitely make my professional life easier if I didn't skip it, but I'm not making decisions about my family based on what is better for my boss, as much as he would like me to!

There's a family thing on March 25th. It is about 6 hours drive away. Our plan is to drive about 4.5 hours the first evening and then do the last little bit the morning of. We're going to reconfigure the seats in our minivan so that I have room to put my feet up. Does this plan sound crazy at 34 to 35 weeks?

We'll drive home all in one day but we can stop frequently.

I don't think it sounds crazy.  As long as you're getting up and moving around regularly, I think it's okay.  Of course if you're anything like me on a road trip...I'm constantly stopping to pee, so no worries about not moving around enough!

Weeks/Days along: 28 weeks or so. Wow!

Appointments: Midwife on Thursday morning, taking that non-fasting glucose test.

Symptoms: Anxious to see if I'm still spilling ketones because I've been feeling not so great and hypoglycemic for about 10 days now. Belly is really starting to get big and round and beautiful! My asthma has been acting up a lot (combination of pregnancy and weather, I think), but my lower back/hip pain continues to feel so much better thanks to the chiropractor/PT appts. Such a relief to be able to walk without pain!

Food: Still on my kick of brown rice with egg/sriracha/scallion ginger sauce, loads of kim chee and a leafy green. Trying to incorporate at least one yogurt/fruit smoothie combo in there, and have been conscientiously snacking on pumpkin seeds and unsalted nuts throughout the day in order to up my iron and protein intake and keep my blood sugar regulated.

Exercise: Walking, trying to do lots of kegels and squats with my back against the wall, some spinning babies-type inversions.

Body changes and other milestones: Still having trouble putting on weight. I wouldn't think so much about it if I wasn't feeling ill, but I feel like I did several years ago when I was having massive problems with hypoglycemia. That can't be good during pregnancy. In good news, no stretch marks yet. I know the only thing that really stands between a lady and her stretch marks is genetics, but I love slathering organic shea butter with rose oil all over myself after bathing. Keeps the itching away, at any rate.

Thoughts: Been very sentimental this week in general, which is unlike me. I've been thinking a lot about the birth of my son, and those first few hours and days with him. They were such precious moments to me, esp that first moment when the midwife laid him on my chest and I said his name for the first time to him. I am just beyond excited to have that experience once again!  My husband has pretty much taken over all of the cooking and kitchen cleaning. I'm sure some of the learning to cook thing is his own desire for self-preservation (we'd be doing take out every night otherwise), haha, but it makes me feel loved and taken care of and pampered. Also found out my BIL is planning on visiting right when the baby is born, if possible, which would be amazing. He is so lovely and helpful, and has offered to be on keep-the-bossy-toddler-amused duty full time.

Masel - We ended up needing to do a 5.5 hour driving trip when I was about 34 weeks last time. It wasn't great (small car, not a whole lot of room), but we just took frequent quick stops so I could stretch and pee, and I wasn't too worse for the wear by the time we got to our destination.

Weeks/Days along: Tomorrow I'll be 30 WEEKS!

Appointments none scheduled...but I may need a blood test for SMA because my sister (who just had a baby) found out she is a carrier for SMA and she told me I should get tested...not sure what I'm going to do about that.

Symptoms: huge appetite. huge belly. huge emotional outbursts. huge desire to get the house all organized for baby...just no energy for it :-)

Food I still think I have that pica disorder lol - random non-food things keep seeming appetizing to me. Despite odd cravings, I am eating pretty normally aside from the obscene amount of chocolate cake i had this week since it was DS2's birthday and we had tons of leftover cake from his party.

Exercise walking about 1 time a week. It isn't enough. But better than nothing, right?

Body changes and other milestones: Bigger all over. It is hard to put on my shoes sometimes. My back now has rolls of fat even when I'm just standing up straight (Lovely, huh?) and my face is so puffy that a coworker asked if I had been crying this morning! Uh, no, I'm just puffing up like a marshmallow because I'm pregnant thanks for asking.

Thoughts: I love feeling the baby. I can't feel much in the middle still because of anterior placenta but I can feel a hard ball on the right side so I think he is transverse w/ his head on the right side. DH is ultra protective of me as I get bigger and bigger. Its like he thinks I might topple over and roll away any second. Doesn't want me to lift anything and scolds our 4 year old for running around near me for fear he might run into my belly. Doesn't want me to push a shopping cart because I might bump it into something and then the handle of the cart would bump into my stomach. Seriously, something about the 3rd trimester is making him very protective...but he doesn't want to snuggle/make out with me --just protect me from any random thing that might injure me. It is kind of odd. And kind of sweet at the same time

Forest, I am fortunate that I work in a school and baby is due right at the end of the school year. So, I will get to take 12 weeks off. Paid :-) Then the Family Medical Leave Act allows me another 12 weeks off - but it would be unpaid so I will just be taking 12.

Masel, I think that trip sounds totally reasonable. Just stop and stretch when needed :-)

cookie, I seriously need to do kegals!! I have been so lazy but I've gotta just make myself do them! Your post reminded me ~ thanks!

Weeks/Days along: 29 Weeks today

Appointments: This friday is my first with my OB. The appointment has already been moved twice by their office... this is making me miss my midwives even more than I already do.

Symptoms: Getting really tired. I am very anemic with low hemoglobin and I have been for 15 years so it's something that I just live with and I am horrible at taking my iron. I have been trying to take it (and my prenatal pill) again this week. I am getting over the bronchitis and sinus infection. That really knocked me out but I feel like I am coming out of the sickness into the third trimester. Like everyone else, pelvic and hip pain.

Food: I have had no appetite for weeks. I am still growing though. Still cold stuff like popsicles and I was on a huge ice cream kick until I got sick and now I don't want it. I love original mini wheats and shredded wheat. I pour boiling water of the THREE shredded wheat things and then i drain it immediately. Then I pour cold milk over it all to stop it from cooking and I COVER it in brown sugar. Its horrible for me but soooo delicious. That's about all I have been eating. I have been drinking a ridiculous amount of water too. I love water.

Exercise: Walking to DD's school and pulling both kids in the wagon and now that I am out of bed and moving again, back to packing and cleaning the house non stop. I packed 4 large boxes this morning and cleaned under the powder room sink although I could barely fit on the floor between the vanity and the toilet. DH and I are still... ahem... you know... so I guess that counts too.

Body changes and other milestones: I am huge. My boobs look awful. They have officially flopped into position on either side of my belly like flat pancakes with giant nipples. The literally lay on the top of my tummy. My skin is very clear. I am loving that.

Thoughts: I want to meet my baby. I am so in love with him. Despite all the horrible physical stuff that is happening to me this time around (the 40 stitches, gastro, kidney stone, bronchitis, sinus infection etc) this has been my favourite pregnancy. I feel so bonded with him. I love being pregnant!!!

Weeks/Days along: 30

Appointments: I had one today.  I go every two weeks now.  I don't remember if I mentioned my hemoglobin issue last time, but she couldn't get the meter to "read" my blood.  It was too thin.  She tried 3x.  This time she tried 4x before she got it to read.  The reading was normal, a little lower than she wanted but not much.  We can't figure out why my blood is so thin though.  It was fine in October when I had my blood work done.  She gave me Alfalfa capsules to take (9 every day!!) and told me to eat more meat and dark leafy greens.  Hopefully that'll do the trick.  I'm measuring 31 weeks, which was a huge relief.  Last time I measured 2 weeks smaller, which she assured me was normal but I feel better measuring bigger than smaller.

Symptoms:  Still lots of heartburn.  It used to only be at night, but now I'm getting it in the daytime as well.  Tums work, but if I even drink water it comes back so I usually try to tough it out until bed time.  I"m also experiencing round ligament pain (I think).  When I roll over in bed, or get out of bed mostly.  Sometimes when I walk.  Oh, and getting into the van is uncomfortable too.  Still no swelling or anything though, so that's good!

Food:  Lots of carbs!  Pasta, pastries, cereal, GS Cookies, etc.  And fruit.  I need to eat more greens and meat.

Exercise:  Walking about 4 blocks every day.

Body changes and other milestones:  Belly is bigger, boobs are bigger.  My linea negra is getting darker.  My nipples seem bigger.  Not the areola (although those are huge too), but the actual nipples.

Thoughts:  I can't believe how quick this is going!  We'll have our babies in just a few weeks!  Crazy.

Weeks/Days along: 30 weeks-ish!!!

Appointments: 10 more days and one with midwife

Symptoms: I know I haven't seen anything yet, but I am 'feeling' so large. Getting off the floor is starting to get harder. I will share a funny (if inappropriate) story: DH recently discovered he has a hernia. The other night we were in the kitchen and he said something flirty and I said "Hey, you got a hernia, you're like disabled from all that now." He patted my stomach and said "Oh really..just me? Between the both of us we're like a couple of beached seals. The only thing we might be able to do is fling a flipper and hope it hits the other."

I about died laughing. Too true my dear, too true.

Food: Not as in love with it as I was in the second trimester. Oatmeal with raisins every morning for breakfast (with brown sugar, butter and real cream and cinnamon). Then we eat dinner, usually I'll eat a salad. Trying to drink atleast 3 cups of RRL tea and more water. Today I ate oatmeal for breakfast and lunch has been chicken slices, mozzerella cheese sticks and ritz crackers with water.

Exercise: Yeah it is something I know I need to do. I hauled in wood today (up stairs and down stairs) and then I am going to clean the house. I hope I have enough energy to do some walking. Just...no energy. I have to do an exam today also. Fun times.

Body changes and other milestones: My varicose vein on my right leg has popped out under my knee even. :(

Thoughts: I am getting so excited to meet this one. I have been making tons of little diapers and things for her. Should do less crafting and more cleaning...eventually. lol

Weeks/Days along: 28 weeks 1 day

Appointments: Had fetal echo and measurements at perinatologist on friday. Baby is perfect and sweet she is measuring fine and her heart is gorgeous LOL as the U/S person said.

Symptoms: Not too bad, had some TMI constipation but my green drink took care of that :-)

Food: Not much of an apatite lately but I eat well just don't feel like it

Exercise:umm down to 2x a week cardio and I am aloud to walk on tredmill or out side a few times a week but no extra cardio. I feel great thoguh, peri said he is not wooried about my shall we say lack of gaining because that is how I carry but i've only gaine 1.3 lbs so no majoy cardio aloud....(sigh)

Body changes and other milestones: ALL BE IT SMALL,  I have a bump! yay!

Thoughts: We went away for DH birthday just a weekend trip to SF and when we came down tot he hotel breakfast and it was packed, a family )mom) looked at me and asked if she wanted them to move!, I realized ok I look preg yay! I said no but thanks there are some almost done but that was nice of her...and I can't believe there is only 12 weeks left! oh and I started a wool skirtie (newborn) love.gif

Name: Grace

Weeks: 31+2 - this is totally mind boggling right now!

Appointments: March 12

Symptoms: starting to get the achy pelvis and sore feet. Got a bit of a waddle going on now because my hips and crotch hurt. Sometimes I get that bowling ball between the legs feeling, too. Not great. Some swelling, but that might be because of my decreased water intake and increased salty food intake! Lots of nightmares these days. I had a dream that I was crossing the street with my two kids and still very pregnant and a car was headed right at us, and I had that "who do I save? We can't all live" decision to make and then I woke up. Dreamed my dad died and we were talking about placing my mom in a home. Dreamed about some horrible infection that was killing kids in a town in horrific ways. A lot of it is sad/scary/depressing, some of it gives me nightmares just thinking about the nightmares because it's like a horror film. Would LOVE it if that stopped!

Food: Eating all the things I normally hate! Raw veggies, cold from the fridge - especially carrots and snow peas. Lots of fruit still. My total love and obsession with water has faded somewhat, but I'm still making myself drink plain water instead of juice. Tonight for my evening snack I had "cowboy sushi" - dill pickle with cream cheese on it, wrapped in deli roast beef. SO good! I told my husband about it (and a few people at work) and they gave me that horrifed, "what the hell are you talking about???" look, but it was awesome. I pinned it, for those of you I have on Pinterest.

We're celebrating the dog's birthday soon (I know, I know! Try explaining "dogs don't get birthday parties" to a 3 year old!). I'm planning that chocolate chip cookie dough/ oreo/ brownie batter cake thing that... Hmm... Janellody, maybe? linked ages ago. I've been dreaming about it.

Exercise: walking the dog, standing all day at work and doing their damn stairs 10 thousand times a day. Also apparently started nesting... it was REALLY important yesterday that i pull out the fridge and stove and clean underneath/behind them. I don't think I've ever done it in the 3+ years we've lived here. It was really gross. Decluttering and tidying like mad, too.

Thoughts: getting excited to meet this kiddo! I'm only working 2 days a week starting next week and on the one hand I'm THRILLED to be spending more time at home, and on the other I'm scared of spending that much time with the kids again. A lot of the time they drive me bonkers :/ My brother is going back to my parents on Sunday (he was living with us and doing childcare while my husband and I worked) and on the one hand I'll be sad to see him go, but on the other hand this was a terrible idea and I'm so, so happy he's leaving. The nesting instinct is thrilled he's leaving so I can clean his room, too. It's stinky in there.

I don't have energy to use the template!

29 weeks... Feeling huge... I'm about to have to crazy work weeks and a bit overwhelmed - 3 work trips so 6 airplane trips in 2 weeks greensad.gif
Ugh

Astria -- I've been having nightmares too - last night I was being chased by a lion?!?!?

Symptoms - heartburn on and off, sciatica...

Such awesome baby movement. I don't remember DS being so active... It's like he is always on the move. I fell asleep on the couch last night. DH told me babe was moving like wild "putting on a show" while I slept joy.gif

Sorry to hear that some of you gals are having nightmares.  I had a dream last night that I was finding tons of cash in my grandmother's bookcases.  Sometimes I would find like a whole roll and then I would find loose bills in between books and their pages.  It was crazy! Last week I had some nightmares, so this was a nice change of pace.

Last night I dreamed I was able to find a Teddy Ruxpin with a boatload of cassette tapes and matching books as a set. I talked the guy down to $40. I bought something else (I remember Barbie stuff but that wasn't it) and the total came to $80. In my dream i was super excited because my kids all really love Teddy Ruxpin.

lol weird dream

Weeks/Days along: 29 weeks 4 days

Appointments: Next monday is my last 4 week appointment, then I am on 2 week ones and the 19th is my ultrasound!

Symptoms: Hungrier, getting bigger, peeing more.

Food: Not much change...

Exercise: Walking on the treadmill when I can :)

Body changes and other milestones: Still no stretch marks!!  I have been doing coconut oil every other day and I never scratch, i am hoping I don't get any!!  But I know I still have a long way to go...

Thoughts: This weekend is our birthing class, so I am excited about that!  I posted the baby shower pictures int he other thread and my baby shower was so much fun!  I got a ton of clothes and some other goodies, too.  I asked for amazon gift cards and got a good amount of those, but with a total of $160, it unfortunately only made a small dent in what we need to buy.  We went shopping with them last night and got all the bedding stuff for Deacon's room, so we will be able to set that up when it comes and I will be able to show it off :)  But I still need some big ticket items, so that will have to come out of my own money I guess... babies are expensive!!

Weeks/Days along:  29w 3d

Appointments: Chiro tomorrow (two times a week for pelvic girdle pain) and midwives on Wednesday

Symptoms: Horrible pelvic girdle pain (or SPD).

Food: Anything. Chicken dumplings form the local Thai place, bananas, eggs, really, anything.

Exercise: Yoga once a week, pelvic tilts, squatting and kegels EVERY DAY!

Body changes and other milestones: Hair has stopped falling out, but acne is everywhere! Belly is huge, boobs are smaller (?!), first two teeny tiny stretchmarks on actual belly (the rest are on my back and chest).

Thoughts: Little Oscar is moving a lot, especially in the middle of the night. Two nights ago it felt like he was at a rave or something. It was crazy! I can't wait to meet him. We've been getting loads of clothes from friends and it's fun to put little outfits together!

Linnie, I LOVE the description of your boobs! Hilarious!

Forest, I'm so lucky that I get to take almost 4 months off of work! My last day will be May 4 (due 5/11) and I'll return after Labor Day. Then I'll come back gradually over the next four weeks. I'll be back to full time October 1. I've been working for the university since 2003 and have saved every day of sick leave, so my entire leave will be paid! Sometimes I feel guilty for asking for so much time off, but then I remember that I'm coming back full time (for sure) and I work around 50 hours/week. So this is MY time to bond and be with the baby.

Astria and Rozzie, I just read that nightmares during pregnancy correspond to an easier postpartum transition. The idea being that you're working out your fears and worries at night rather than during the day after the baby arrives. Interesting thought!

The nightmares sound awful.  Luckily, I haven't had any of those.  Even after watching The River right before bed.  Does anyone else watch that show?  OMG.  So creepy.

My mom used to make "cowboy sushi" as hor dourves for parties.  So yummy!  We didn't call it that though, I don't think it had a name.  There's also a version that's the same thing but with a green onion instead of a pickle.  Also yummy!

I felt the same way when my sister (and niece) moved out.  It was great having her help out, and having someone for DD to play with...but it sure was nice to have our house back!
