Sponsored Linkspost #2 of 42/27/12 at 3:01pmYou give it to them 30 minutes before bed without food. It will not help them stay asleep all night. Sorry. The only thing I found was catnip/fennel tea that I grow and brew myself. That knocks them OUT! However I do use the melatonin and only when necessary. It will eventually reduce the bodies ability to make it's own. According to our DR. and The really hot guy at GNC. I get the chewables as well.
DD1 had anxiety about sleep and would lay in bed for hours. She was exhausted but her anxiety about not falling asleep made it worse. Totally sucked.
post #3 of 42/27/12 at 8:08pmGiven that your dd is taking other meds I would speak with a pharmacist. I recently read an article that cited a study of different brands of melatonin and as I recall the labels did not match the actual amounts of melatonin advertised. I say this to recommend you use a trusted brand.
post #4 of 42/28/12 at 5:57amI would definitely talk with a doctor before mixing medications.
My kids take melatonin about 20 minutes before they go to sleep. My just-turned five-year-old takes 500mcg and my seven-year-old takes 1mg.
