We're Pregnant!!! - Page 2

Hi Everyone,

I'm Kate. Sorry it's taken a while for me to get here, we were away for the weekend at a family wedding.

I'm 36 and this is pregnancy no. 2 for me. DH and I have a 21 month old called Juliet. We also have a very spoilt burmese cat who thinks he is a little furry person.

I mostly SAH but about three weeks ago I started doing a few shifts at work, mainly to keep my registration current (in Australia nurses and midwives can't go longer than 5 years without working to maintain their registration) because I want to take another full year off when this babe is born. I'm only doing 1-2 days a week in either ED or maternity and only when DH or my parents can look after J.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone over the next year or so biggrinbounce.gif

Hi everyone!  My name is Andrea and I'm happy to say we're expecting a baby in early November.  We have two awesome kids - Caleigh is 5 and Blake is about to turn 3.  I'm a little nervous with having a third little one but I imagine it's just because I finally feel like I'm in my groove as a mom to two kids so a third one throws a bit of a turn into the mix.  All good though!  :)  Other than being overwhelmingly tired, I'm feeling great.  Avoiding morning sickness as I had with my last two therefore so far feeling much happier about this pregnancy!  Happy to be on board with a bunch of other great mamas!

Oh, and weird story.  When I was born my parents on the way out the door to the hospital had to shoo away a skunk so that they could get in the car.  Same thing happened with my brother. When I was in labour with my daughter, a skunk sprayed outside my house.  When I was dropping my daughter off at daycare the day I later had my son, we passed a road sign with a skunk as an advertisement.  So, when I was in upstate NY skiing with family 2 weeks ago, I walked outside and a skunk ran into the bushes ahead of me....and I knew.  I knew I was pregnant.  :)  No test needed although a stop at Target on the way home confirmed it.  :)

Hi, I'm Katherine (35) and my husband is Dave (39).  We have a 5.5 year old daughter Madeline and a 4.5 year old daughter Ainsley.  We also had a loss at 11 weeks Nov. 2009.  I'm so excited to be here- I'm still in shock!   I just got a BFP tonight!  We've been waiting a long time for this little one!

I'm a SAH mom and so excited to have new one at home with me next year, as both my girls will be in school full-time.   I've had 2 natural births with a midwife and hope to have this one at a free standing birth center.  So far I feel good and pray for a healthy and happy nine months for everyone here!

That's a *great* story.

Hi all, my name is Amanda.  I have an almost five year old son with my ex-husband and conceived on the first try with my fiance.  I will be 30 in ten days and am thinking this will be my last babe.  According to my calculations, I will be due around the third of November.  Besides being a mum I work part time as a fancy-schmancy bartender. I love to cook gourmet vegetarian meals for friends, sew (back in the day I designed my own collection before having my son), obsess over nutrition, study holistic medicine, read, play cards, garden, fix up old furniture, do yoga, hoop dance, read tarot cards and astrology charts, debate, write when I get the chance, and just be an all around feminist warrior priestess winky.gif  With my son I breastfed until he was two, co-slept, and cloth diapered and plan to do all the same with this little peanut.  Hoping for a girl so I won't be tempted to try again, but would be so happy just to have a healthy child.  My ex-husband has a five month old son and we are still very close and get along super well, so my little boy already has a brother in the family and I would like for him to experience having a sister.  We currently live in Kansas, my fiance is finishing his last semester of grad school here before we move to Chicago for the summer where he has a great job waiting.  After summer's end it's back to Kansas where we will celebrate our marriage with a big party before hunkering down to nest and prepare for baby.  I attempted to have a home birth with my son, made it to 9 and a half cm dilated before my midwife tried to manually open my cervix the rest of the way which resulted in swelling.  We didn't realize this at the time, of course, so I pushed at home for two hours before going to the hospital where they informed me I was about to tear my cervix.  Jonah was born perfectly healthy via cesarean, so thinking this time I will attempt a VBAC at the birth center or hospital (birth center is a 20 minute drive whereas hospital is literally two blocks) with a midwife and her doctor.  Fortunately, my midwife lives a few blocks away also and has actually had her two sons with her doctor so I feel this go round I will be treated with much more respect when the time comes.  Ironically enough, my midwife last time was the bully and the hospital staff was truly wonderful.  So much for what we think we know :)  Nice to meet you all and I look forward to getting to know everyone better in the coming months.

hotsauce - You won't be too far from me this summer.  I'm about 1.5-2 hours outside of Chicago, up near Rockford.

Hotsauce- I'm in Chicago also, though we're moving to Seattle at the end of the summer. I actually will be staying with a friend in Evanston most of the summer while DP is out jobhunting in the PNW.

We're in the Midwest area too. We live in Madison!

Awesome!  I've never lived in Chicago or spent more than a few days there so I'm interested in knowing where to go and what there is to do.  I won't be working at all, just spending my days with my son which is such a blessing!  I know he won't get nearly the amount of mama time he's used to once I have another child so the opportunity to have nearly four months off work is amazing.  Not sure where we will be located yet as we are in the process of searching for a sublet but I'm hoping for a place near the beach.  Really excited for all the amazing food offerings, the last time I was there I couldn't get enough Vietnamese and I wasn't even pregnant!  Where is Madison??

We pop up to Madison to stock up on cat food every 3 months or so.  I LOVE Madison!  It reminds me a lot of Ithaca, NY (where we lived before moving to IL last summer).

I am due around November 3, and have two daughters: A (2/15/07) and E (4/14/09). I'm 29 and my husband is 28, and we've been together for 11yrs, married for 8. This baby will complete our family, and were planning to have him/her at home just like our second daughter (first was emergency csection).

Hi, I'm Sasha. I am 37 (will be 38 at the beginning of October) and due bt Oct 31 and Nov 15.  I tested + on 2/22 a couple of days before 28 days after my last period on 1/27.  This is pregnancy #2.  I had a missed miscarriage last October at around 8 weeks.  After that horrific experience, I am nervous to say the least.  Once bitten, twice shy, I hesitate to tell anyone other than my spouse at the moment.  My hCG and progesterone levels look good, and going to the OB on Wednesday to learn more.  A little nervous about getting a transvaginal ultrasound, as my last fetal heartbeat went out soon after my last one, and can't to wonder if there is not some sort of correlation.  Spotted during implantation and light brown for 3 days last week, so another point of nervousness.  I have been training for a half marathon on the 17th, but I am only running 3 days a week now and have slowed my speed down to 10 min miles and straying under 160 hb.  Other than being tired and feeling mildly cramp, I have had morning queasiness, but no sore boobs, yet.  Knock on wood.  And the last thing I want to do is have sex, so poor husband;(.  Luck to all of us!

Hi!  I am an herbalist and some herbs that are calming and okay in pregnancy are chamomile, Californina poppy and valerian.  I drink chamomile tea before bed, but you can drink throughout the day.  I recommend the latter two in tincture.  Valerian can be really stinky and be aware it has the opposite effect in some people of keeping them awake.  Hope this helps;)

Hi all!  I'm Liz :)

Just got a surprise BFP (actually 2, lol) this morning.  I'm still trying to digest it, since it was unplanned.  I'm 33 and have two older kids ages 6.5 and 2.5 with my ex.  It was a BAD relationship, and my pregnancies were pretty rough, both resulting in emergency c-sections and I had a miscarriage in between the two.  Packed up my kids and left last year, and I'm now with a wonderful man, planning on getting married and he is thrilled about the pregnancy.  My EDD is November 19th.  I was on mothering for all of my other pregnancies and always loved the due date clubs I was in, so of course I came back for this one too :)

Hello! tiphat.gif My name is Thyme. I will be 30 this summer. yikes2.gif My husband and I have three kids, ages 6, 4 and 19 months. We live in Northern California. I had homebirths with all my kids. We UP/UC'ed for our last two, and plan to for this one as well. I am a student midwife with plenty of midwife friends to call upon, so we both feel very comfy UP/UC'ing.

We are a WAPF geared family, so I am always soaking, sprouting, baking, roasting, baking, drying, chopping, mixing etc.,. We are homeschooling Charlotte Mason style and it's great. My oldest has Aspergers so keeping things mellow is key. We co-sleep, breastfeed, don't vaccinate, wear our babies and keep our boys intact. blahblah.gif We just bought a house in November that we are majorly renovating. The current project is felling some trees to get a massive garden planted and fruit trees in. treehugger.gif

This pregnancy is a surprise for us. We wanted more kids, but were CTA until the baby was at least 2. I do feel a lot more relaxed in general this time around. I was a worry wart with my oldest and my youngest. My biggest fear so far is getting HG, which I had with #1 and #3. My second biggest fear is driving a minivan.Sheepish.gif Kidding! It will be nice to have more room. I've been driving my beloved Subaru Outback for six years now, but the new Dodge Caravans looks pretty good. I heard they are calling it the "Man Van". orngtongue.gif

Anyways, according to Fertility Friend and my ovulation date, I am due on November 7th. I never put stock in due dates, but all my children have arrived 1-3 days after their due dates, which were all based on my ovulation date.shrug.gif

Lovely to meet you all! blowkiss.gif

Hi wonderful ladies. My name is Iana, I am 26 years old, a mom of two girls 5 and nearly 3 in May and a student midwife in Arizona. I got a surprise BFP yesterday. We were not trying to have another baby we were totally done. At least DH was, I've always wanted 4 and he wanted none so 2 was the compromise. My cycle was late and I chalked it up to being down with the flu during ovulation. I was expecting it for a whole two weeks eyesroll.gifwith two bfn's before the one yesterday finally gave me two lines. It was an incredibly crazy discovery since I also had my wisdom teeth removed last week and double checked that morning before the surgery to be 100% sure. I was a little over a week late at that point. Sunday was 14 days after my missed period and my husband insisted I take another and what do you know its positive. He's not a happy camper but working on accepting it. So I've had to hide my joy a little. I am glad to have this club as a release.

I am extremely happy to have this baby, even though the circumstances are not perfect. My husband left his job at the beginning of February and we are living off savings until he or I can find work. I've been a SAHM studying and interning for midwifery in the meantime and this means all that is on pause. Which I am totally ok with. I plan on another homebirth with this baby bean with my preceptor who has been at all of my births. We've even talked about living in a commune together and she could just roll over every few hours to check on baby until its time for DH to catch. I love birth, every time I witness one I am amazed by it. I cannot wait to have my own yet again and add to our wonderful family and our beautiful girls.

Every single member in our family and friends circle want us to have a boy and neither me nor my husband have a preference. I've been debating not finding out the gender just to make them all antsy. So far I've been in a lot of pain thanks to the surgery. I haven't been able to open my mouth more than a finger width so I've only consumed soups for the last 5 days. I'm starving :( I've got mild cramping, breast tenderness (always a symptom for me) and nausea when I haven't eaten for an hour and a half. I unfortunately cant eat much substance and the list of foods the dentist gave me consisted of ice cream, jello and milkshakes primarily irked.gif

I'm tentatively due Nov. 1 based on LMP. I could have ovulated late from the flu which would put me at a week later and also explain the very late bfp. But I also tend to go 4 days early so I'm just going to say early November and leave it at that! I look forward to spending the next few months with you!

Hi Everyone!

I got my surprise BFP yesterday. It's not really sinking in yet. I think I am having some denial issues because it is SO unplanned! I'm in shock really. I have no idea how DH feels about it but I don't think it's good.

I work full time and am the primary bread winner for my family. I am also finishing up  grad degree. We have five children already (14yrs - 10 months). A sixth was discussed but we weren't going to TTC for a couple of years.

I homebirthed my youngest three and assume that is what I will do again . . . ok I can't believe this is really happening.

Julie- You and I are both from the April 2011 DDC!

Era and Michelle- I am so glad that I am not the only one with a little baby and pregnant again!

I expect this will all become more real when morning sickness hits, so far no symptoms except for BFP and no AF. Of course it's really to early for me to have symptoms -due date Nov. 8, 2012.

Hi Ladies!  My name is Simonne.  I am married to a wonderful man and we have two children, DS (almost 3) and DD (just turned 1).  I got my BFP last night on DH's birthday and I am super excited.  This little one will complete our family.  I hope this bean sticks.  I am cautiously optimistic after a chemical pregnancy in December.  Our kids will all be close together which makes me nervous but I we will adjust (I hope!).  I am 36 and DH is 37 so we did not want to wait any longer.  I am happy to see so many thirty something mamas in this group!

I birthed both of my babies in the hospital.  DS was an unplanned c-section and DD was a natural VBAC.  I hope to have another VBAC with this LO.

I look forward to getting to know each of you.  Here is to a happy, healthy nine months for all champagne.gif.
