OMG, I was wondering the same thing! I usually feel great in the morning, and deteriorate somewhere between 3 and 6 pm. I usually just give up and head to bed by 9 because I'm feeling so crappy...

Mine's all day except I get a 1-2 hour break in the late afternoon, then, just in time for dinner the worst nausea of the day hits followed by the heartburn.  Totally miserable.

Same here except I've luckily been heartburn free. If I were you I wouldn't worry about your DH. Just be glad he's home during the worst of it so he can help with the kids. I wish my DH was home more!! When he is and starts complaining, I kindly remind him this is his baby that is making me so sick and that it sucks for me a whole lot worse then it does for him!! Here's hoping we all feel better soon! For our DH's sakes smile.gif

My poor husband had to deal with the "I'm too sick to eat anything, but if I don't eat I'll feel even worse" drama (complete with hormonal tears) this evening.  I'm having a hard time stepping foot in the kitchen these days so I am so grateful that he's willing to make sure that he and DS get fed when I'm feeling my worst.  That said, this first trimester business is really hard on us as a couple.

Yes! I don't remember this from my first pregnancy, but I totally feel worse starting around 2 or 3 pm until right around bedtime, when I start to feel fine again. Mornings are great, so I'm trying to get as much done then as I can. It stinks, though, because I work in a restaurant and always just want to crawl into bed when I have to get ready to go to work. Oh well... hopefully not too much longer, right? And then we'll be on to other things.

Morning, noon and night sickness at this end.  I try all sorts of things - protein, carbs - doesn't seem to matter but it has its own life that waves up and down with intensity.

I hear what you all are saying! I can't wait for this to be over. But I remember hearing a friend say how she was nauseous throughout all of her 3 pregnancies - please not me!

I am another one who can't go into the kitchen without gagging. I dare not open the fridge. Food shopping grosses me out - meat and fish departments are horrid. vegetables which I normally love scare me.

What foods are people coping with? Which do you totally run from?

Here's my weirdo list that most likely will change suddenly.

Tolerable:

toast with a small bit of cheese and ripe avocado (seems to work as a breakfast)

clementines, oranges (but now sort of going off citrus)

yougurt (plain with maple syrup, lemon, black cherry)

stir fried steak strips (never used to eat beef before pregnant)

toast with jam

Scrambled eggs with salt and pepper

Apples
(very limited as you see)

Gag-a-rino:

Any fish (ate so much healty fish before pregnant but now it sends me to gagville)

Chicken
Tea, coffee

Anything with mint in it - yuck!

and everything else!

Does anyone get sick (vomit) after they brush their teeth - I am always so afraid to brush my teeth as it induces dry heaves and the other day, er uh....the sick thing...

Does anyone else have a constant strange metallic taste in your mouth?

Does any one have any relief tricks? I tried the Sea Band wrist bands but they don't really seem to matter. Preggie Pop candy helps a great deal but I'm getting sick of the sweet-sour taste.

My husband is cooking more, which really means we eat out more....it's very expensive dealing with morning, noon, night sickness :-o

Good luck everyone - as we all are soon to move in the 2nd trimester, I hope we all start posting about how much we are back to enjoying food and life again!

all the best to everyone!

Babinogi,

Your list sounds so much like in my last pregnancy.  This one's totally different, but maybe worse in terms of severity.  I totally had the getting sick from brushing my teeth thing last time around.  Awful!

I don't remember the metalic taste from last  time but I definitely have it this time.  that and heartburn and constant nausea.

This pregnancy I can do things one day and then can't look at the next and there's no real predictability to it.  One day all I wanted was Tuna salad.  I loved it that day and haven't been able to touch it since.  The other day bacon was amazing and now I hate to even think about it....

I'm having a hard time with plain yogurt, which I usually eat daily and love.  It still tastes good, but I just can't swallow it.  Sometimes if I put a little honey in it I can get it down but man if I don't there's just no way.

Of course today I had to use yogurt to cut the mayo (which I usually love but oh ick.....today) in chicken salad and that worked well.

Unlike last time I seem pretty universally okay with chicken or beef (couldn't manage either last time).

Anything with ginger's pretty awful, though mint seems to help some, especially if I combine it with something sweet-sour...so mint tea with honey and lemon's pretty good for example.

The preggie pop candy helps but it's actually a bit much at one time.  Altoids help sometimes.  Really the most reliable relief for me is from Ricola lemon-mint cough drops.  I need to have DH get me more of those next time he goes to the store.  A friend suggested cold watermelon, but I've not been able to bring myself to buy it out of season yet.  I know I ate a lot of it during my last pregnancy.

My DH has been responsable for dinner a lot here recently too.  I seem to get the get up and go to make a good dinner once a week at this point. We've been eating out a lot too.  It's so so expensive...especially after my cover all the bases, pregnant woman shopping lists. Grocery stores are just not good places for me these days and any stores with natural bath/body products make me feel so so sick.  I do okay with more artificial smells but essential oils and herbs are torture so DH is also doing the majority of the shopping too (my mom figured out I was pregnant because she kept calling me when DH and DS were out at the grocery store...lol)

.

Hoping we don't have too much longer of this.  It is so so hard.  I feel like I fall asleep feeling the nausea and night, wake up with it in the middle of the night, and again in the AM and then deal with it all day long except from about 3-4 PM if I've had a good nap before that point.  Otherwise I feel sick and woozy.

I have the wonderful all day sickness, which like others said it comes in waves.  Somedays I'm fine and normal, well except the growing belly and going to bed by 8;30pm.  Other days I can't leave the house cause I'm throwing up all day.  No really rhyme or reason to it.  If I eat regular it normally helps on the bad days, but when you feel like throwing up who really wants to eat?

I go grocery shopping and think something sounds amazing!  come home have one bit and then don't want anything to do with it (which is really driving my frugal side crazy!!)  One staple has been a crispix type cearal, and oyster crackers.  Scrambled Eggs are nomally yummy also.  Juice like the V8 low sodium is also a safe bet.  I've really been craving bananna pudding with vanilla wafers and bananas.  I made it, took one bit and ran for the bathroom... I was so frustrated!!!!  I spent my energy (which as we all know is sparce right now anyway) making something I've been craving for weeks, and it made me vomit!!!!  Yes I poked my tummy and said "I love you very much, but if you could stop making me vomit that would be awesome!"

Things that send me running to the bathroom on most days:

Popcorn~DH fav

Peanuts

raw Veggies/most fruits (I've been drinking lots of juice to get some of the vitimans!)

and just about anything that doesn't sound good at the moment!

Even on a good day I'm gaging on these things:

Raw Meat, we have become almost vegitarians.... I can not cook meat!

MINT!!!!

I don't really like mint non-prego, and prego that is totally multiplied by ten. Poor DH who tries to say good bye in the morning before he brushes his teeth, or it makes me run for the bathroom. and lets not talk about when he comes to bed and wants to snuggle after brushing his teeth yikes2.gif

Babin~ I HATE HATE HATE having to bruch my teeth!!!  One thing I found is I switched my toothpaste, I normally use tom's of maine Cinammon, but I started using the kids strawberry and that helped.  Lets be totally honest, since it does turn into a horrid cycle of teethbrushing then vomiting, then wanting to brush your teeth and then well you get the picture.  I don't brush my teeth if I feel like I'm going to vomit, or I wait until later in the day cause really my sanity is just not worth it if I'm not going anywhere.

Here is to almost hitting the 12 week mark when all these crazy hormones should be leveling out some and letting us be happy, non-nausious pregos!!!!
