Lyme Disease vaccine?

What ever happened to the Lyme Disease vaccine?  We live in Maine and I have to say it would be nice to have some protection against Lyme (although I think it was meant for only teenagers and/or adults).  I read about this vaccine in a book by Paul Offit but now it seems to have disappeared...it is not even mentioned in your book, I don't think.

I have never read about a Lyme vaccine.  I'm sure people are working on trying to make one, but nothing actually produced yet.

Well, there was such a vaccine at one time but now it is gone.  I have done a little research and had comments from other moms on this website, and it seems like its discontinuation was because of a combination of too many reactions, not enough efficacy, and not enough profit for the drug company.

So anyway, that is all I know about it.
