Chicken pox exposure....way to decrease severity?

Thread Starter

A couple years ago my kids were exposed to the pox but DD1 & DS only showed VERY mild symptoms (a few bumps on their chests that never scabbed). DD2 had nothing. I've been waiting for a chance to try again & finally had that opportunity today. *phew*

My question is this....besides good nutrition, adequate sleep & taking vitamin D to support their immune systems, what else can we do to possibly decrease the severity of the illness? Are there any homeopathic remedies helpful for the varicella virus? Or other "crazy" things you've tried or read about that may prevent the pox from going crazy in their systems? Possibly a liver cleansing herb?

They were very resistant to being exposed (ages 5,7 & 9) because of their nervousness about being sick, rightly so. As their mama, I'd love to help them not get TOO sick & keep them somewhat happy & still in love me. eyesroll.gif

Are there any good acupuncturists in your area?  If so, I would have a consult with one (one who is also a certified herbalist).  While I don't have the direct experience (of chicken pox) you are seeking, my son sees a pediatric acupuncturist regularly.  It's non-invasive (no needles), and he takes herbs daily.  We have had wonderful results with this, so it's definitely worth an interview.  Good luck...

There are several homeopathic remedies used with CP, but which one would depend entirely on the symptom picture. I would suggest getting this book.
