Inspiring nurses to become midwives ... book suggestions?

hello Friends and Colleagues,

I am presenting the history of midwifery to a group of second semester nursing students very soon. thumbsup.gif

As I gather useful mini-gifts to give out to them for answering questions at the end of the presentation, I ponder what book I could make a special prize of as the grand prize. I imagine only those thinking they might be interested in pursuing nurse-midwifery may vie for this prize; but the right book could potentially inspire a future nurse-midwife who simply is unaware of this professional option yet. [They are in their maternal nursing class right now.]

Any quickie flashes or ideas would be most welcome. I should obtain this book rather quickly :)

The discussion on which and why would, of course, be great because I enjoy contemplating the profession! so do not hold back just because I request the book title idea soon.

Many blessings and thanks sincerely,

Thank you, happyhippiemomma! for the suggestion.

Did this book influence you early on? or is this a recent inspiration?

I am preparing my goody list for the students right now! quite excited.

Again, thanks for this idea and many blessings to you and yours,

j

this is what I would recommend, too.  Although I didn't pursue a CNM degree (yet?) it got me through some disheartening times as a naturally-minded L&D nurse in a very medically-minded hospital.  I bought it about 12 years ago, and I refuse to part with it!

Baby Catcher is good, too (and about a CNM and her journey from nursing school to midwifery).
