HypBirth?

Friend of mine is selling her HypBirth kit. Curious if anyone is familiar with this, or used this? If you had a homebirth and used a hypnosis birth program, did you find it helpful? Also, did any of you find the cds playing during labor to be annoying? Do you NEED the cds or are you learning tools to be able to relax on your own.

i am planning on hypnobirthing (i keep writing hypnobirthday!)....and i'd love to hear about the experiences of others too!

I am reading the Hypnobirthing book right now.  It has to be one of the most poorly written texts I have read so far on anything childbirth-related.  Anyway, I am reading the book as just another option of how to approach birth.  I figure: I won't know how I'll want to get through birth until I'm in the throes.

I do agree about the way its written - very poorly - although I am managing to enjoy it nonetheless. I definitely like basis of the method so far.

I'm curious about the whole hypnobirthing thing myself. I had a friend recommend that I read up on it. If I have some time at the end of the other books I want to read before the baby comes I might check it out. I'm not really sure if that kind of thing is for me, but like modestmothering says, I won't know what works best for me until I'm in the middle of it all. Why not have one more thing in my arsenal, right?

Ok so i bought the HypBirth program yesterday off a friend. Today is day 1. I watched the dvd on how the program works. Definitly requires a daily commitment...but i mean 15-20 minutes day to run off and relax listening to hypnosis/relaxing cds? Umm......YES!!! So hubby is bathing DD right now, and Im downloading the cds to my Zune so I can have my first session tonight :) I will let you ladies know what I think. I figure if nothing else, I could learn relaxation tools that could help with pregnancy stress, and maybe even help during birth.

Although, I did tell my husband "Im pretty sure the way  this program works is that you listen to the cds, sit in a birth tub, and a baby falls". lol ;)  It could totally happen ...right ? ;)

Day 3 of the program and I am loving it. Past two nights I have slept like a baby! I can tell that I relax a little deeper with each session (only three..but still see a difference). I didnt realize how much stress and tension I held in my belly till after sessions i notice my belly is MUCH more relaxed and BIGGER! Baby flips and stretches in its happy relaxed peaceful home. Today I looked forward to my 20 minutes  of relaxation and visualization. I feel I am learning tools that will really help with the homebirth. If nothing else, the fact that I feel a little more relaxed during the day is worth it!

I am totally confused. I decided to buy the Hypnobabies stuff and they have so many things on their site that I'm not sure which one is the right one. Obviously the ones for getting your toddler to sleep and such aren't what I need, but holy cow there are a lot of options. I'm just going to get the eBook and mp3 versions. Here's the page... any thoughts? I'm assuming it's the package at the very bottom of the page.

I did the Hypnobabies home study with my last birth (VBAC) and am using it again this time.  I believe you want the entire home study course.

Those mp3s are all extras that you can buy to supplement the home study course, if you want.  None of them are necessary for the program.  The CDs you get with the home study have tracks that include "Learning Self-Hypnosis," "Joyful Pregnancy Affirmations," "Pushing Baby Out" and others.  Those are the ones that actually teach you how to do the self-hypnosis and guide you through the birth.

I had a great experience using Hypnobabies!  My doula actually decided to become a Hypnobabies instructor after having me and another Hypnobabies client!  She had had hypnobirthing clients before, but we were her first ones using this program.  Please let me know if you have any questions about the program.  I'm happy to share my experience with you!

Thanks for the extra clarification, freckledgirl. I wonder why they don't offer the entire program digitally. That's kind of frustrating. I really try not to buy physical copies of CDs and books anymore, they just end up junking up my tiny apartment.
