He is RF'ing in a MyRide. He's about 28lbs and very very short for his age. He just turned 3.
I'm not exactly sure what's going on. He hates laying down or reclining so maybe that is part of the problem. He also hates having clothes too tight on him or being held snugly... so these aren't problems exclusive to the carseat, but the car is the only place where I can't accommodate him. He resists being buckled in & it's clearly very uncomfortable for him.
He also has a bit of irritation on one shoulder from the straps. It's a small lesion that just never goes away. The straps have pads. He is missing a muscle in his chest on the opposite side so I am guessing the unevenness causes the strap to dig in more on the fully-developed side. He has never complained about that though, I just feel bad seeing the irritation, you know?
Turning him FF might help with his aversion to reclining but he's so small that I hate to turn him so soon, plus I don't think this would help his back, which is the big issue. And the straps would still be tight. I was thinking of padding the back of the carseat and his other shoulder with a thin folded blanket or something but I don't know whether that's safe. He keeps asking me to loosen the straps but they are as loose as they can safely be. There has to be someway to make this better for him! (And no, I can't buy another car seat, and I have a feeling he'd have similar issues with just about any carseat anyway. His infant car seat was a torture chamber...)
