The eight week healthy weight loss challenge - version 2.0 (start date 19/03/12) - Page 6

I usually weigh in first thing in the am, supposedly it's when you weigh the least and lord knows I need *that* motivation.

Yesterday my daughter (6) and I walked down to the highway overpass and raced each other up and down the ramps and across the overpass. Boy are those ramps steep! But it felt good having my heart pumping and knowing I was working off some calories.

My goals this week are more water (I also am a diet soda addict.. I don't think I can completely give it up yet but I am working on lowering my consumption alot) and more exercise. I find unconventional methods of exercise seem to work better for me, I don't get bored and have more motivation.

Drinking more water is absolutely one of mine too!!

Is anyone else on myfitnesspal.com?  I just joined and it looks like a great way to plan/track meals.  (as opposed to my Excel spreadsheet.)

I weigh first thing in the morning after my shower before I get dressed. That is before eating or drinking anything. I also weigh at night before bed to see how I've done for the day!

I think that weighing in at the same time is important if you are going to do it everyday.  I've found my weight can vary quite a bit throughout the day, so I do mine first thing in the morning (nude!) as well.  Then it is consistent.

I don't think I could possibly drink more water, I drink a million litres a day!  LOL - I actually drink so much that I get paranoid that people at work wonder why I go to the toilet all the time!

Does anyone have any opinion/information on calorie intake, or a good website that can tell me how many calories I should be having each day to reach my goal?  I thought I was doing quite well with eating well and exercising, but I'm not seeing much in the way of big results.  I'd like to up the ante a bit.

I looked at Calorie King, and it seems to indicate that I should be having 1700 ish calories a day, which seems super high, and is waaayyyyy more than I am eating now.

PS: Go BLUE team!

I have used myfitnesspal my sister here in the US uses myfoodpyramid.gov it's an american government website not sure how that works if you live in another country.

I weigh myself first thing in the morning. I also strip down to my undies to make the scale as low as possible. My situation is a bit unique because we are full time RVers and live in a 30ft class A. It has carpeting throughout. Even in the bathroom. Actually even the ceilings are carpeted. So my DH cut out a wood board to lay under the scale so I can weigh myself. My RV doesn't have automatic leveling jacks so it has to be leveled by hand. My DH has it at a slight slope towards the front so I tend to get a different weight at different areas of the house. So I started turning the scale N S E W and just take an average of the four weights. Today I am 189.7lbs down two ounces from yesterday.

I weigh several times a day biggrinbounce.gif I think I have become a bit obsessed. I remember being stuck at 188 for so long I am still getting used to the scale being below 170. The best weight and the one I keep is in the morning after a shower. Even though my hair is wet the shower is dehydrating so it is my lowest weight of the day.

That is a bit of a unique challenge for weigh in. I am sure I would find something ridiculous like my lowest weight is taken in front of the driver's seat and would be trying to cram myself in there every weigh in.

Trying to get in a full workout on non-running days, too. My first day has shown me how much strength I've lost.

20- MWHBB#1, MWHAB#3
(That's Mama Wants Her Body Back and Mama Wants Her Abs Back, btw)

So I'm 2 workouts for 2 days so far. smile.gif

I just started and love it so far, though I am always amazed at how many calories are really in food.  So hard to see it in black and white!

yes, I ate too many calories and carbs today and I cannot fool myself since the details are right in front of me.

I do not have the capability to record my food from my phone but I've been told it is really easy to do.  I just logged it in at home on the computer.

I had such a great day. Work was wonderful. The sun was amazing and I took a 2 minute break in the park, put my bag down as a pillow, turned my iPod way up and just soaked in the sun. Fabulous boost mid0day. Got my best work out in since my bike accident (last challenge). Still some swelling, lots of tenderness and a lot of things I can not do, so I am working with what is possible and saying thanks for my body healing. Feeling genuinely happy.

Hi Blues and everyone -

I was hoping to post today that I'd gotten some exercise, but I seem to be on the cusp of a stomach flu that's been circling in our community for a few weeks. On the one hand, a full blown bout would probably bump me down a couple pounds, but especially after reading joyous claybear's post, I think I'd rather get there the healthy way. Heading to bed to meditate on healing, thanks to claybear's imagery of soaking in the sun.

Ignoring the calories of the homeopathy I'm taking!

I walked 3 miles at the gym tonight. I didn't eat that great tho, so I think today is a wash. I'm having a hard time reducing my calories after a week of damn buffet.

Yesterday was a horrible food day (and no time for exercise). I went to my mom's and had red wine, Cheetos, wasabi peas, and caramel corn. Yes, she eats that way. For those who didn't read the last thread, I'm convinced my mom has Cheetos and bourbon for dinner because she is tired of cooking.

My goals for this week:

1. Get my eating back under control! I was in a good space before vacation.

2. Exercise 4 more times by Sunday.

What are your goals for the week everyone?

I'm not a planner, never have been. My only goal is to lose weight.

I went on a long walk with all three kids in the tandem stroller. Talk about a work out! My back is killing me.

I'm on sparkpeople.com. It's fabulous! Great way to track all of it.

it's weigh in day for my (simultaneous) Biggest Loser contest. i weighed at 148.4, which is a one pound drop from last week. what day of the week do we weigh in for this thread?

thank you to whomever suggested showering before the morning weigh. i'm sure you are right that it has a dehydrating factor, and i did it this morning. i always shower at night, but i do like a morning quick rinse, it is refreshing and invigorating, and an opportunity for me to blowdry my hair for the day. add in the fact that it helps my weight, and i have a new routine!

even though i prefer to lose two pounds a week, i am happy with one pound at this point. for one thing, .4 means i am CLOSE to 147. and i'm down to the last 11 pounds out of 50 that i am going to lose. these last ones are coming off a lot slower and with more effort. i accept that, and am grateful for any downward activity.

I'm on my fitnesspal. Same username. :)

Well, the past couple of days could have gone better, but they could have been much worse too. I've been taking the kids for a walk around the block everyday (we live in the mountains so it's NOT flat!) and doing yardwork. Did some raking yesterday, and will probably do more today. I also need to weed out those flower beds and turn soil in my raised beds. Volleyball was cancelled last night, so I was over in calories yesterday. This morning I participated in Ice Cream for Breakfast day, but the calories were less than I normally eat for breakfast. LOL! Tracking calories is the most important thing for me to keep on track. I hope everyone has a great day!

I'm on calorie count and like it its so easy to watch what I eat on it.  Last night I worked out

I did my abs, legs, and arms tonight I hope to do some cardio.  I did have a Pepsi with my dinner, but I was below my calories still which is good.  I found that even my regular work routine burns a bunch of calories, which helps.

My goal for the week is to not gain with all the celebrating we will be doing this week (2 birthdays and deployment homecoming!) and to get my workouts going!  So far this week I an 1 for 2 on the workouts.  Trying to decide about weighing more often than weekly or just weekly . . . and thoughts on the merits/disadvantages of frequent weighins vs weekly?  How often do you weigh?
