hi we were kicked out of our practice - Dr. Stroman in Dyer, IN. I live in Northwest Indiana and I am looking for non vax friendly/tolerant pediatricians. Please recommend if you can, but the nonvax link hasn't helped me. Now I have a sick 12 yr old and I'm starting to get worried. I want to make sure I have her covered. Last year she had a run in with pneumonia so I don't like to be without a ped if I need one. 

I am looking in NW Indiana and also Hyde Park Illinois areas. I am not able to go so far as evanston or naperville. Homefirst doesn't seem to have practices in the city. Which was a bummer. 

Wow, there  used to be more non vax tolerant pediatricians. Things are changing fast.

Try finding a family practitioner as they are not so pushy about vaccines.  Do you have a local health clinic to take your LO to in the meantime?

yeah I am treating her with wellness tincture, which she responds to right away usually. But last year, early 2011, we had a run in w/pneumonia and we treated w/abx. I don't think this is the same, but it is still a very persistent non productive cough. yesterday was better, and then last night and this morning seems bad again. 

I have given her some probiotics, I had to mix honey and some whipped cream in :/ and I tried to give her a potion w/cayenne, acv, lemons and honey but she wasn't havin it. 

but the pneumonia thing is what has really kicked my ped search into high gear. I really would like to have someone in the hyde park area cuz I'll be going to school there. 

are you saying that perhaps a family practice dr might not worry so much about vax records since my kids are 9 & 12? I would really like that.

yes, they are not as pushy about the issue as pedi's tend to be.  And they treat the whole family, not just the child.  that way, the dr knows the whole family unit, not just part of it.

You might also contact Homefirst and ask them to recommend a pediatrician/family practice in your area.

Were you able to find a non-vax friendly doctor?  Our pediatrician informed us that they would no longer accept parents who chose not to follow the vaccination schedule, thus we are seeking another doctor for our child and would appreciate any specific recommendations.

I'm in NWI & have a fam practice doc that accepts my very delayed/selective vax schedule.  He just asks at each visit if I'm still delaying or ready to start.  He usually recommends I start a vax or two & when I decline he just says, "ok," & moves on.

you might also want to consider going to a naturopath, rather than a conventional doctor.

Hi! So sad about Dr. Stroman. He saw our second one in the hospital and had such a great personality. We see the most amazing pediatrician, Dr. Uzelac in St. John. None of our children are vaccinated, at all. We never feel pressured to vaccinate. We have never been lectured. She didn't bat an eye about our third one being born at home. She offers some homeopathic options alongside traditional medicine. She has a great personality. I have been raving about her for the last year to anyone expecting or that already has children. All my non-vaccinating, selectively vaccinating, homeopathic, etc friends love her as well. She is about a 45 minute drive for us, but completely worth it. I have never had trouble getting an appointment. In office wait times are short. Often times, I cannot finish the paperwork before we are called back. Can you tell how much I love our pediatrician?!
