OK so after taking my pictures I don't think I have enough guts to bare all LOL ;)
Here is the room I am working on this week. It is our laundry/sewing/computer/exercise room ;)
I have the bad habit of not folding clothes as soon as the are done drying so I put them in garbage bags and this is what happens.......
Anyone have any good ideas on how to store lids to pots/pans in the kitchen? Right now they are stacked in a drawer but its a pain for when I need one. It always seems to be the one on the bottom that I need! 
Amy- we could be laundry twinsees! You should see my front room couch right now, its COVERED with laundry. So is the floor. At least its all clean! The dirty stuff is on the floor in the kitchen or in the storage room. 
We didn't have a washing machine for almost a month and a half so catching up is taking a while.
amyandelle - I am with you on laundry! I don't have a problem getting it clean but most of the time, putting AWAY the laundry never seems to happen. Thanks for sharing your photos, though! I wish I had taken photos of the before/after of our office. I guess I could always take after photos... :P
okimom - Don't they make something that sits on cabinet doors with different levels that you can hang lids on? I feel certain I've seen something similar in the past..
My mom has an awesome rack thingy that they stack into (like a dish drying rack, but for organizing pot lids). Together with one of those circular pot-hanger bars that hangs above the stove, it really helps the kitchen stay organized!

Well, I have been working for most of the day and I feel like I did pretty good. There is still alot to do but I am done for tonight ;)

Can I join? I need to get my house organized again. We have accumulated so much junk since having a baby and it stresses me out just looking at all the piles of stuff that we don't use everywhere. And our organization is seriously lacking since becoming parents. We don't even fold our laundry anymore. It just sits in a big pile on our spare bed. 
Which makes it impossible to find any clothes, especially baby socks. I'm planning on starting my spring cleaning and organizing this weekend and I think I'll do before/after pics.

I understand how you feel, MyName. Since having my son (who is now 18 months old, so hardly an excuse any longer, lol), housework and stuff has just piled up. With #2 coming in September, I'm starting to feel how important it is for us to try to get as much done and cleaned as possible beforehand. Otherwise, can you imagine?! :)
Joining this thread! I'm trying to minimize my clutter, in part inspired by my boyfriend who is pretty hardcore about the minimalist lifestyle -- literally everything he owns can be put into a backpack and large duffel bag.
I, on the other hand, am the kind of person who leaves socks (and pens and scissors and pennies and pill containers and magazines) EVERYWHERE so my house consistently looks like a tornado hit it. And that list of things is the items currently within reach of me as I sit on my couch. Sigh.
Choose2Reuse: I like your declutter box idea, I may steal it. Also, hi big sis! I promise I am way better at helping OTHER people organize their stuff than I am organizing my own.... ;)

My closet is currently inside out in the hallway. Funny how I never seem to get a solid 2 hours to myself...
I did take a picture of the closet. I didn't take any of the built-ins, so the "before" will only be half documented. But the closet is a pretty good indication of what the built-ins looked like. I "confronted" my husband about it. Well, really we got in yesterday evening and he steps into the hall and notices the closet contents are hither and thither and doesn't say a word... and all I said was "Dude." and he replied: "I dunno... it just happened." so he knows. HE KNOWS. The upside to being a SAHM instead of working 50 or more hours a week is, I can finally get this house in some kind of order. In my kind of order. We moved in Nov. 2010, got pregnant Dec. 2010 and WHAMMO! it was off to the races. I am so happy that my little home will be a true reflection of me, and not some kind of quasi-disaster.

DH & I spent a few minutes this afternoon flipping through an old IKEA catalog looking at shelves and organizational stuff, hehehe. I think we're going to get a couple of those big shelf things with little cubes, and a bunch of bright cloth drawers to go in them. I figure the upper levels can be books and "grownup stuff", with maybe one just containing a vase or something to look oh-so-noncluttered (ha!), and the lowest level can be "baby play drawers". Bonus is that you can't really smash your fingers in a cloth drawer, so I feel like they'll be really good for toy storage/exploration.

I'm on a getting-rid-of-stuff binge today... unfortunately, my house now looks like a CRAZY PERSON was in here, because everything is all over the floor. :D
But I have a billion listings on craigslist, sold lots of books to powells.com (waiting on shipping labels), and am about to pick up the remaining junk from the rest of the living room/dining room to put in a "to sort" bin... which, if I don't get around to sorting it in the next week or so, will just become a "to donate" bin.
I also just bought a pretty jewelry organizer and have decided that whatever doesn't fit on it has got to go!

I love IKEA catalogs so so much! I just met a woman who used to design IKEA's displays, and practically drooled on her. Looking forward to an IKEA trip in the near future :)

I was thinking of getting some of those organizers that helps you see what you have for canned goods.
those rolly canned good holders have been a lifesaver for my cabinets that have dead space (like in the corners). SO GREAT! found mine scouring at thrift stores :)

Organisation is my stumbling block...
Not to self, scour thrift stores for can organizers :) Ive wanted some of those forever but cost is always a stumbling block..
I did manage to find some inexpensive lid organizers for the kitchen (thanks wilfulmama for mentioning they make those! I didn't even think of looking for something like that) and they should be here on Wednesday.. I adore Amazon for that stuff by the way, I got them for half the price through amazon that they would have cost at Target or Walmart.. I'm glad I shop around before buying things! I also got a broom organizer for the wall so I can get my broom/mop/misc kitchen items like that off of the floor. I keep tripping over them!
Im going to try to finish up the kitchen today. I haven't been feeling well so I haven't gotten much done. Praying I STOP getting sick! Ive gotten sick more times since moving to North Carolina in February then I have in the 3 YEARS previous.. My kids and husband have been getting sick repeatedly as well. Im hoping now that we are eating out less and eating healthier we won't be getting sick anymore.
Am I totally crazy to draw diagrams of the kitchen cupboards, fridge and freezer so everyone can put things away in the same spots?? My husband is driving me insane right now, he just puts things anywhere and I spent so long getting things to a way that it functions and flows easily. I thought maybe the diagrams might make it easier on everyone so we are all on the same page.
Oh I'm joining! I'm in the midst of spring cleaning/decluttering! This year I decided to work from teh top down. I'm trying to get all the bedrooms decluttered. Bathroom/linen closet are ok so I don't need to worry about those. I already did my sons room. Agenda for today is my bedroom! it's the gross catch all room that rarely gets cleaned. 
So far I clean out a closet and managed to make an even bigger mess.
