but apparently spending the third trimester in utero was too passé for my daughter.
Aenea Anwen was born rather precipitously into my hands (much better than the toilet) last evening. Her immediate reaction was to protest, grab my fingers, open her eyes, and look about as if to say, "Just WHAT am I doing here?"
She'll have a long NICU stay, of course, but I can see the hospital from my house and it's only a 15 minute walk with 24/7 visitation for parents. Yesterday was 28 weeks on the dot. Crazy girl. My rental pump just arrived. It's going to be my friend and nemesis for the next few months.
She's doing well for a 28 weeker, but things will be hairy. I'm just hoping for proper lung development and freedom from scary infections.
When I joked around about a precipitous homebirth, I thought it would be at term.
