My DS has never been great with naps, although he (more often than not) has been a pretty good sleeper at night. Our nap routine has gone from bad to worse lately though. The ONLY place he will nap is in my arms. He will literally nap for 2 hours while I'm holding him or snuggling in bed with him, but as soon as I try to gently put him in his crib, he immediately wakes up and starts crying. I don't know what to do.
Sure, I'd love to just snuggle with him for all his naps, but I also work from home and REALLY depend on at least an hour or two of naps every day to make phone calls and get my work done!
Today was the worst. He only slept a total of about 20 minutes all day. That 20 minutes was with me holding him, and as usual, as soon as I tried to put him in his crib, he was wide awake and crying. It's like it just snowballs then... the more tired he gets, the more he refuses to nap. I'm so frustrated... I know this isn't healthy for him to be sleep deprived all day. My family keeps telling me to just make him stay in the crib even if he cries (while checking on him and reassuring him frequently), but it seems like that just makes him even more hysterical. Plus it makes me feel terrible.
Any advice?? I'd really appreciate it...
