Birth control options after baby?

I know it's early to be thinking about this! But has anyone else decided/thought about what they will do to avoid getting pregnant again right away?

I own a business AND work full-time at the business, so while having one baby right now is manageable, the idea of having two little ones right now is not!

I think I'm especially terrified about this because my brother's girlfriend is pregnant again soon after having a baby...they thought she was due in August (baby will be one in June) but found out at the doctor's visit that she's really due in June!

I think we are going to look into the big V for my dh.

We had kicked around the idea after #3 and I though being 40 and nursing would kind of be a pretty good form of BC (apparently not so much).

Of course by the time this babe comes and I got my AF back (close to a year if like the others) I'll be almost 42....

So I won't be all that worried of another surprise (famous last words...).

I got the ParaGuard IUD between baby 2 & 3. I loved it.

I can't do anything hormonal, and I had thought about an IUD, but honestly, it freaks me out. Totally irrational, but it is what it is. So I guess we'll go back to FAM and really be careful. If we're sure we're done, we may have DH get the big V... but it feels soooo.... final. I like to reserve the right to change my mind.

We've used FAM since DS1's birth, and successfully. Well, until last cycle, anyway whistling.gif. I've been 2 for 2 with AF returning at exactly 6mths PP despite delaying solids, co-sleeping, EBF, no pacis etc, and then I usually have 3 anovulatory cycles and then a shockingly short LP (think 3-4 days) until I stop nursing. Then it's usually 8 days... or it was, until this cycle anyway. Hindsight, lol.

I am very very sure this is our last baby. I cannot imagine going through another first trimester ever again! DH and I haven't decided completely but we're leaning toward a vasectomy for him and will probably still use FAM jic. We still have to sit down and research and talk about it though....
