I prefer multi-purpose items, but I still have single purpose items that I need ideas on what to use instead.

What can I use to dish up soup besides my soup ladle?  My serving spoon is too small for soup.

What can I use instead of a blender?  Ours died and we usually have green smoothies for breakfast.

We recently got an immersion blender- it can be used for smoothies or pureeing soups or whatever. I like it because it's much smaller than a blender and WAY easier to clean. Seriously you just rinse off the end and it's clean, unlike the blender where you have to do the glass container and the lid and it's just so much more work.

what can be used instead of a crab cracker and the little digging tool for getting out the meat?  We also use the cracker for nuts sometimes- are there any alternatives? A hammer?

We use a hammer for cracking nuts, but we don't usually eat crab.

Ah ok thanks. I might just keep the crab tools, they are small and I can't figure out an alternative. Cleaning crab is a pain.

I decided to get rid of my big blender in favor of the immersion blender. It works great for everything we make, and it's much smaller and easier to clean.

We love our immersion blender!  It makes me glad our regular one broke!  And it takes up so little space.
