I am 26 weeks tomorrow and have recently noticed an all out outbreak of spider veins on my thighs.  I did not have this problem with my last pregnancy,  Does anyone know if support hose are really the way to go for this sort of thing?  I never wear nylons, or hose, or tights or anything like that and it is starting to get warm here.  Is this likely to get worse?  I can try to be on my feet less and elevate my legs.  I already walk regularly and swim.  Do I need to buy the hose?

I have varicose and spider veins that get worse with each pregnancy. I am going to get them fixed after this baby is born.

I asked my midwife whether I need the hose this time, and she basically said if they hurt enough that I am willing to put up with the hose (which are super uncomfortable in my opinion, and it's getting hot) then I know it's time to get them. I don't really know if the hose will prevent you from getting more spider veins or not. Maybe someone else knows that part?
