Prenatal testing

I have my first appointment next week and received a packet of information in the mail today. There was a lot of informational about various prenatal screening tests that are available. I am undecided about whether I would like to get these or not - what have you ladies decided?

I would also like to know this. Since I'm 35, they want to do extra testing within the first 3 months, just not sure what's involved in that. My appointment is in 2 weeks and I'll be 7w2d at that point. Thanks!!

I'm 33.  I did the first trimester screen along with the nuchal translucency ultrasound for ds.  I personally just wanted to know if I had an elevated chance of having a baby with a chromosomal disorder.  I will probably do the same for this pregnancy.  Also it was nice to get a peek at the lo.  Little did I know I would be seeing quite a bit of him on the ultrasound since I was subsequently diagnosed with GD.

For that screen they took a blood sample and checked hCG and PAPP-A levels. They combined those results with what they saw on the US and came up with a risk factor for Trisomy 21 and 18.

I'm not really sure what extra level of testing they commonly recommend for women over 35.
