SLEEP - Page 8

Kirsten, yes, the same thing has been happening here.  He used to take a morning nap at 9:30, but lately it's been more like 11 and then he won't go down in the afternoon, but is wicked tired by 5ish.  Right now he's crying and closing his eyes, but bed will be screwed up.  Argh!

Roam and Ember now take 1 2hr nap about 12:30 to 2:30. Bedtime is about 8:30 and up at 07.

Oh, interesting!  I may start trying  that.  I'll have to keep him well entertained to make it to 12:30 though.

Conner sleeps from about 8p-9a uninterrupted.

He'll go down for a nap around 10 and sleep until 12p... Ish.

Then, HALF the time, he'll nap again from 3-430p or so.

These last two days though, he's missed the afternoon nap because we've been out doing stuff and boy, oh, boy does it test my patience. LOL He is NOT a happy camper when he misses his afternoon nap.

The variation in our babies' sleep needs is interesting.  Is there any reason why one baby needs 16+ hours of sleep per day, and another one is just fine on less than 12 hours?

Probably the same reason we get by on 5-6 broken hours and our darling husbands need 9-10... smile.gif

I'd say temperament plays a huge, huge role.  Spirited kids tend to need less sleep.  Go figure.  Of course, that doesn't hold true for every kid, but based on my own experience that is holding true.  Dd barely napped at all and slept like crap at night, too, but showed very few signs of sleepiness ever.  Ds1 is much mellower and he was on a great nap schedule for a long time (slept like crap at night, but that's another story).  And now Avery... still trying to figure him out.  I kept him up this morning and he crashed at 11am.  He slept until 12:30.  That is not going to last him until bedtime.  Sigh...

Conner's a super mellow kid and he still sleep about... 17 hours a day. He took a 2-hour nap this afternoon. I was so mad we were out visiting, LOL. I would have LOVED to nap with him.

Yep, we're back to sleeping like crap b/c he's taking a late morning nap and an early evening nap.  That's no good.  I will have to work really hard at keeping him awake late enough in the day to actually sleep long enough to make it to bedtime.  I guess he's in between 1 and 2 naps right now and that's frustrating b/c night time sleep is so bad when he takes 2 naps.  Ugh.  I'm exhausted.
