Need to place my 8 year old cat in a new home

Please Help!!  My 7mo DD has a severe allergy to my cat so I have installed air filters and tried not to pet her very much without washing my hands.  The problem is I must have handled this wrong.  Now my cat clearly resents my DD and has tried to attack her on several occasions.  This last time she launched at me while the baby was in my arms.  My husband is adamant that she MUST GO!!!  For 7.5 years, my cat has been a very sweet and wonderful cat.  She is very affectionate and loving but I can tell that this relationship will not work anymore.  ANY SUGGESTIONS?

i would talk to a behaviourist and get a vet check, anytime personality changes drastically a full vet workup is warrented as there may be a health issue involved.

I'm generally against the whole idea of "disposable" pets, but if my cat attacked my baby, he'd be on the next train out of town.  Forget the feline psychotherapy and ask your vet or a no-kill rescue group to help you rehome your cat ASAP.

Any time you bring a new adition to the home you are changing the enviorment Your cat didn't expect a baby and is reacting to its feline instinct some times a cat will attack a baby it's better to find the cat a new home so both are happy and safe.Some cats do get along with baby's it don't sound like yours is that type good luck! If you find the cat a nice home it's not disposing of the trust the cat gave you.
