fainting while pregnant please help

Hi everyone.  I am about 5 months pregnant.  I have been almost vegetarian my whole pregnancy but eating occasional chicken and fish.  Over the past several weeks, I have stopped eating meat completely, and recently I have been having fainting spells and my morning sickness has returned.  I'm 23 weeks, and I have not had my glucose level testing yet.  I'm starting to get horribly paranoid that these attacks are due to low blood sugar caused by GD.  I have a really good diet and (although I love kids' cereals and the occcassional chocolate treat; its nothing out of the ordinary) I have also read that this could be caused by protein deficiency.  I'm hoping that is the case, because if I develop GD, I can't give birth in the birthing center and I would have to go to a hospital and I think that y heart would be completely broken and I would just freak out.

I don't really know what I'm asking . . . my counselor suggsted I suck it up and start eating meat again, which Im ok with for just a few more months, but I'm just really worried.  has this happened to anyone else?  do you have any nutritional advice?  I've been trying to supplement with Vega protein powder, and I eat alot of peanut butter, but it doesn't seem to be enough.  I've thought it also could be that Charlotte is growing and I just ned to eat more than I did a few weeks ago.

can I get the glucose testing early and put my mind at ease?  I know you'll tell me to call my midwife, I'm obvously going to call her in a couple of hours when the center opens.

thank you!!

I forgot to mention that dairy has been making me sick lately, so I have also pretty much cut that out of my diet too.

It doesn't seem like not eating meat would cause fainting.  There are plenty of protein-rich vegetarian and vegan foods which would completely cover your bases nutritionally.  Maybe, like you said, your baby is growing and you need more calories.  Or maybe you are having blood sugar problems.  I'm glad that you're getting in touch with your midwife!  I hope everything turns out okay for you.  It's a terrible feeling to have a looming health problem in your mind, especially when you're pregnant.  Keep us posted and maybe people can give you better dietary help when you know more about what is going on.
