Hi everyone. I am about 5 months pregnant. I have been almost vegetarian my whole pregnancy but eating occasional chicken and fish. Over the past several weeks, I have stopped eating meat completely, and recently I have been having fainting spells and my morning sickness has returned. I'm 23 weeks, and I have not had my glucose level testing yet. I'm starting to get horribly paranoid that these attacks are due to low blood sugar caused by GD. I have a really good diet and (although I love kids' cereals and the occcassional chocolate treat; its nothing out of the ordinary) I have also read that this could be caused by protein deficiency. I'm hoping that is the case, because if I develop GD, I can't give birth in the birthing center and I would have to go to a hospital and I think that y heart would be completely broken and I would just freak out.
I don't really know what I'm asking . . . my counselor suggsted I suck it up and start eating meat again, which Im ok with for just a few more months, but I'm just really worried. has this happened to anyone else? do you have any nutritional advice? I've been trying to supplement with Vega protein powder, and I eat alot of peanut butter, but it doesn't seem to be enough. I've thought it also could be that Charlotte is growing and I just ned to eat more than I did a few weeks ago.
can I get the glucose testing early and put my mind at ease? I know you'll tell me to call my midwife, I'm obvously going to call her in a couple of hours when the center opens.
thank you!!
