Water Bowl Slime

Hey everyone, haven't been on here in... a while.

My little girl cat likes to stick her paw in the water dispenser, which gets it dirty in a matter of hours.  I find that every time I give them fresh water, there is a slimy layer of uck on the bottom of the bowl that has to be scrubbed off.  Does anyone know of a natural way to prevent this growth of who-knows-what, but that won't be distasteful to the kitties?

you could try a little bit of apple cider vinegar, i usually just wash the bowls out often and when water deposits build up soak it in vinegar for a few hours. Never had a slime problem though :S

We had the same problem, the only way to get rid of it was washing it with hot water, and baking soda or dish detergent.
