oh the smells!

Is anyone else having a hard time with every day smells? I've always had a better nose than my dh, but right now I smell EVERYTHING! My bathroom smells like urine, the cat litter smells SO strong, and don't get me started on what the dog smells like. Yesterday my dh grilled himself burgers on the George Foreman grill and I had to sit outside because I couldn't handle how it made the house smell. I don't remember this with my first pregnancy.. does it pass when morning sickness does? This pregnancy is kicking my butt!!

Ugg! YES! Although I actually think my sense of smell might be less than with my son. I have the same thing going on with the bathroom, smells while I'm driving the car, even the bathwater smells repulsive to me!

thought the worst of it did die down last time once my MS fully passed...somewhere in the neighborhood of 14 weeks, but idk. It's hard to believe it's ever going to go away at this point!

Yes, the smells are horrible! My almost 3 year old got his very first chore of feeding the dog because I can't stand the smell of the dog food, the dog food container, or even going into the garage where the dog food's at.  The cat food also smells horrible, but so far I'm still able to handle that.  My bedroom smells.  I wish the smells and the all day sickness would ease up a bit. I'm 11 1/2 weeks, so I'm hoping it will soon.

That was my very first pregnancy symptom last pregnancy, and the super-human sense of smell is back with this one.  The other day the person in the car in front of me at a stop light was smoking, and I was gagging in the car the whole time.  Yuck!  I do remember it getting better in the 2nd trimester last time.

Thanks for the commiseration ladies. Always nice to know I'm not alone! Hopefully you're right about the worst of it dying down after the second trimester. I'm at ten weeks now.

ugh my bathroom smells like a public men's room!  I've cleaned it several times with vinegar and different disinfecting wipes & solutions . . . still smells!  Thankfully the weather has warmed up and I can open some windows.  The peppermint oil I've been rubbing on the back of my neck & temples helps mask some of the odors around the house.

The trash can is also killing me.  I have been taking it out a lot more frequently lately.

and DH cooked salmon on our foreman grill.... it made me sick, I spent the rest of the night in the bedroom with the windows open.  Then a couple weeks later I was feeling miserable again and he offered to make me something to eat. . . and he grilled more salmon on the foreman.  I was really unhappy.

Oh! The salmon would probably have had me puking my guts out! I don't think I could've handled the fish. I normally eat meat just fine but right now, I cannot stand to be around it!!

Someone else recommended peppermint oil, I think I'll need to invest in some!

I hear ya!  Tonight my niece stopped by and I literally had to keep her 5 feet away because the smell of the fabric softener on her clothes made me want to vomit.  Not to mention I have my husband going through every non-scented soap and deodorant in the entire aisle.  Who knew the world was so perfumed!

I puked three times over the smell of one poopy toddler diaper today.  It was awful!  Other than that odors have been easier this time around than with my last pregnancy (I'm also not doing mental health case work with teenage boys who have questionable hygine practices this time...thank goodness!)

Of course now the smell of sweaty little boy is not as nice as it was pre-pregnancy.

I have problems with the natural health and body aisle at the store too.  Somehow the essential oils in those products bother me so much more than synthetic fragrances when I'm pregnant which is funny because we normally use mostly natural products and lots of essential oils in our home.  At least it's not quite as bad as last time.  I could hardly set foot in a Whole Foods last time because I thought the whole store smelled like those aisles.

I also can't stand the smell of bacon anymore.
