How do you use coconut oil?

I am looking at Earth Circle Organics coconut oil, hope thats a good kind:) and am wondering how to use it and what the benefits are of using it (or any downsides)?  I also read something that said blood type A are not supposed to consume it but I have no idea why, any ideas?  DH and I are type A, DD is O, and DS has not been tested, so either A or O obviously but not sure:)

No answer for the blood type question, sorry. But I use coconut oil as a vegetable oil substitute when I bake and to fry up eggs, veggies, etc. I also use pastured butter but I like to switch it up because they both give different flavors. I also put coconut oil in smoothies for my kids - coconut milk, blueberries, pineapple and coconut oil is a great treat smoothie that is kind of sweet and tropical tasting.

I looked into the blood type thing a little and I came up with nothing, so I am not going to worry about it:)

I would love to put it in smoothies!  We make a smoothie every morning so it would be perfect:)  Thanks!    What is the best coconut oil, in your opinion?

I like the Nutiva brand - good flavor, organic, and amazon.com sells it in giant 52oz tubs.
