Still I'm really glad I had it and plan on pulling it out again this time. I'll be curious to see whether it feels just as helpful this time, or now that I've been nursing a baby and then toddler so long without it, it doesn't seem as necessary.

I think that's part of why I preferred the Boppy. It was so much easier to relax that way, and given that I slept sitting up while Cece nursed for the first few weeks of her life, that was totally necessary! And also, being that she is a small toddler, we still use it every night. smile.gif

Hey Aimee, I just saw this thread in the general forum and I thought you might be able to offer some insight:

Thread Starter

I am extra sleepy lately.  Anyone else feeling like that this week?

Sol, I have been completely exhausted for the past week or so and sleeping like 10 hours a day.  I'm wondering if there's a growth spurt going on.  All I want is sugar and refined carbs for energy.  Sigh.  I can't imagine what my energy levels will be like in the third tri.  Yikes!

Tired, exhausted is more fitting.  I thought it was because we were all fighting colds.

I usually use the boppy for the first year, it's just that for the newborn stage it was never very helpful. I was having to lean way over to be able to nurse the baby and my back would KILL>  I liked that you could walk around and nurse with the brest friend.  Which is great because I homeschool...I dont do much walking and teaching...LOL.  But it gets difficult to nurse and hold and flip pages anyway. (By then I'll have a new kindergartner and a new preschooler....eek! The time flies.)

Just a quick update to let you all know I have a new niece, born at home, in the water at 12:33am on 3/30.  Coraline weighed in at 7lbs12oz and 20 3/4". I've been up all night, but I've gotten enough sleep to be able to head back over!

I've never been comfortable using any nursing pillow, I've tried and tried, and it just seems to work best to just hold them.  Plus I can set up shop anywhere and not have to rely on a crutch of a pillow, know what I mean? :)

VV - Congrats on the new niece, she's adorable!!

A friend's son had his birthday yesterday and she invited us to McD's....with a play place.... the germaphobe  and health nut in me had to be bashed back into their respective holes repeatedly, but a good time was had by all.  I even went through the play place with DD since she was pretty reserved about the idea, yes, 21wks preggo and crawling up and around wretched tunnels :p

Also got my maternity swim suit finally,  it's my pregnancy splurge because I've never had one before! Always made do with a non-pregnancy one.  I think it's absolutely worth it, from the 10min I wore it around the house.  I'm super excited to lounge in the pool with the kids most of the summer!

Wish I could blame the tiredness on pregnancy, but no such luck. We're smack dab in the middle of lambing, so DH and I are alternating getting up 1-2x/night for lambs.  Plus we can't seem to get to bed at a reasonable hour either, too much to do!   Thankfully the kids are going easy on me and can set themselves up with breakfast and read while I catch a few extra minutes in the mornings.  I love my kids, I really do - they are awesome!

Me, too! I've been so tired this week! It's almost like the first trimester exhaustion is back. I feel pretty good for a few hrs in the afternoon but I can barely carry on a conversation by the time DH gets home at 7p. I feel like such a lump, but he's so sweet. He told me that I was being silly and it was probably just a growth spurt, lol!

VV - Congrats on the birth of your beautiful niece! So exciting! The moments after a birth are the absolute best!

Aw, what a cute little baby!

I loved my Boppy.  Elsa wanted to be held constantly, including to sleep, and it was a lifesaver for my arms.  I only stopped using it once she was an expert walker and wanted to stand to nurse.

I've been really tired too.  Luckily Elsa has gone back to taking a nap every day, so I can squeeze one in with her and it's been great.

V V Congrats on the newest family member :)  Beautiful!!!  How's your sis feeling?

Exhausted here, too.  I feel really restless at night, and am buying a body pillow TODAY!  Any suggestions?  The snoozie looks nice to me...

It's been puring down rain here for 3 days.  Blech.  Thank goodness for my sweet little yoga class this afternoon!  I need to get my endorphins up and running!

Congrats, VV, on the birth of your new niece!

So...we're having a girl!  She was very uncooperative but two ultrasound techs (yeah, it took 2 techs to get everything we needed) agreed she's a girl.  She spent most of the scan stubbornly curled up in a ball and I actually had to roll onto my side for part of the heart scan.  All's well but I go back in two weeks for another heart scan.  Kind of a scheduling nightmare to get that appointment set up.  I hope we can get a better look at the gender - she was being really "modest."  It's funny.  The last scan we did, she was wiggling around like my husband and this scan she was curled up in a ball like I tend to do.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!

My husband and I were really impressed with Dr. Hartung and the Hudson Hospital Birth Center. Right now the plan is to waterbirth there. :) Woo-hoo! I am so excited. Any chance we'll be there at the same time? I'm due Sept 3rd.

shaeffer, I love the Leach Co All Nighter (on Amazon), but it's pretty big.  It's super comfortable for sleeping on either side once you get the hang of it.  I've had no back, hip, or round ligament pain since I got it.

In other news, for those of us struggling with exhaustion, is this just a phase or is this what it will be like for the rest of the pregnancy?  Because I am freaking tired.  I came home and dragged myself around until I could take a nap and am now ready to pass out again.  If this is it for the rest of the pregnancy, I feel a little cheated by this supposed second trimester "energy spurt" they keep telling me about it.  I had a ton of energy for like three weeks and am now collapsing standing up.

My energy has been ok until today.  I took a nap with the kids and loaded up on sugar to get through the day.  Not the best way, but eh.  I hope this is just a phase and I get that nesting spurt where I go nuts like I did with my last two.

Hello, hello!  Where has the week gone??

Happy for those of you who had your scans this week and/or good doctors appointments!  I hope those who were not feeling so well earlier are doing much better by now and can enjoy a restful weekend - especially those of you who've had busy work/schedules and demanding little ones!!  I've been pretty wiped out by evening as well - and I'm home and very inactive all day - so I can only imagine what the rest of you are feeling like.  I've been sleeping terribly (like not more than 1-2 hrs at a time through the night), which is probably why I'm so zonked.  It's been hard for me to stay motivated (and moving) since the weather has been crappy again and I have no desire to leave the house - I'm feeling a lot of guilt about this as I know the upcoming months will be more challenging to stay in shape....

ithappened - Sorry to hear that your job offer fell through.... were there other plans for you in the works (and if so, good luck with those)?  And the car!  greensad.gif  .... Are there car-shares (like zipcar) available in your area, or do you at least have decent public transportation for the majority of your transportation needs?

Veritas - Congrats to you and your sister, how exciting for you both!!  Enjoy your new niece...(and I just looove the name!)
