when to reintroduce dairy to my diet

my baby will be 4 months in a few days.  i cut dairy completely from my diet when he was around 6 weeks because he was super fussy.  it really seemed to help.  this weekend i ate yogurt & a little cheese.  36 hours later he is really fussy.  i am hoping this is just a coincidence, since i REALLY miss cheese =)  he has never had ay signs of a dairy allergy, he was just very unhappy/uncomfortable around 6 weeks.  how long have you stayed off dairy while breastfeeding & how did you reintroduce it?

All 3 of mine (and #4 seems to be the same way too) were sensitive to dairy... they all grew out of it at different points.  I'd just try it every so often (like every 3-6 months or so) to see if it bothered them.  My first were fine by a year or so...the third couldn't have it til like 2 1/2...(but I noticed the problem later with him too...big time mama brain there!)

good luck!!

I would see an allergist if you're super interested, or just be keen on the symptoms. I'm lactose intolerant and my daughter has a dairy sensitivity (she's 4 months). Here's my spiel, b/c your little guy may be lactose intolerant:

Allergies are an immune response to a protein, and so the symptoms are different. Lactose intolerance is the body's response to a sugar/carb - the inability to digest lactose b/c of an insufficient supply of the lactase enzyme. It is a digestive problem, so symptoms will be limited to things like gassiness, tummy troubles, poop problems. :)

If he is lactose intolerant, sorry, but you're off dairy til he weans - let me know if you want recipe help! :)
