Any new vax developments/studies in the past couple of years?

I have a two-year-old who is unvaxed.  Now that he's two, I was thinking about getting him the DTaP (or DT, etc) - the problem is that I've forgotten all my research!  :)  I'll have to look back through everything, but has anything new come up recently?

I'm also thinking about the MMR when he's three - and maybe get one for my older son at the same time.  He had just the measles shot when he was three, since we were planning to split them up, but then they quit making monovalent vaccines.  :(  So now, to get him measles and/or rubella, we'll have to repeat the measles portion (unless they start making them again)...  Anything new about MMR?

I don't think DT is approved for anyone under 7, and I think it is becoming harder to comeby as there is a big push for P coverage. I don't think anything new for MMR II. I think split up M M R is only available abroad now.

Are new and interesting in my biased opinion. 

You might want to check out more recent rates/outbreaks for measles/pertussis around your area or overall updated numbers if that is a big factor in your decision.

I just read this about aluminum, which is in the DTaP and DT. By the way, there isn't a DT without mercury, although it is approved for under 7 years. It's the T by itself that isn't approved for under 7.

a roommate of mine in Boulder had her kids get only the Dt, minus the pertussis..she didn't want the kids vaxed with the DTP, which is what it was at that time in the early 90's...

This makes me smile. I live in Boulder and wonder how much diphtheria was going around in the early 90s. About as much as there is now! I have a partially vaxed 21 year old (I stopped vaxing after her baby vacs) and it is quite interesting that quite a few of her friends are either minimally vaxed or unvaxed.
