Ninetales, this is your spotlight thread!

People can ask you questions, and you can answer (or not, your choice). Or you can just share if you want to. It's up to you!

To get the ball rolling, here are a few starter questions!

  1. Backstory! Tell us about you, where you came from, how you got to where you are now.
  2. What are you craving right now?
  3. If someone handed you $1000, no strings attached, what would you do with it?
  4. What's your favorite type of soup?
  5. Talk about your house a little-- are you happy where you live? Best part about your house? Worst?
  6. Is your username a kitsune reference? I've always assumed it was. orngbiggrin.gif

Oh, dear, and I don't think I've participated in any of these so far, haha!

1.  Um...I have lived my whole life in probably the same 3 hour radius of central Michigan.  I grew up with two younger sisters, my parents divorced when I was thirteen and my dad and I had a rough relationship until I went to college.  My mom and I have always been close, and so have my younger sister and I.  I have a bachelor's in psychology, only because I got all the way to senior year until I realized that research and doing experiments really isn't my gig, and that's pretty much what you do, and I said I'd be darned if I was changing my major at that point.  I took a few years off after that to marry my high school boyfriend and help put him through his bachelor's.  I got my master's in 2009 in library science and last year I finally got a part time job in my local public library.  I hope to go full time someday but public is where I want to stay.  I had my daughter Elsa in 2010, and she, J and I live together with our two cats.  I love reading, movies, tv, and video games (mostly Wii and Sims 2), though I don't seem to have much time for any of that anymore!

2.  Nothing really.  I just ate the leftover batter from making muffins so I'm feeling pretty full.

3.  I'd get Elsa a carseat with a higher rear-facing weight limit, either a Clek Foonf or a Peg Perego Primo Viaggo convertible.  A bunch of new maternity clothes, and clothes for Pork Chop and Elsa.  Mostly a lot of little things I could use but don't need right this second.

4.  Beef stew that my mother in law makes is my favorite.  I can't seem to replicate it.  I've been trying a bunch of new ones that aren't too much work.  Though I'm a fan of Campbell's too.

5.  I live in a split level ranch.  I like the ranch style but not the split level so much.  Kind of annoying to climb stairs every time you enter or leave.  The best part is the attached garage.  The worst is the big wall between the living room and kitchen.  It makes the kitchen really tiny and puts some awkward angles in the living room.  My mom (who owns the house) is looking into tearing it down to make it an island instead but I think it's load bearing so there are logistics to work out.

6.  Probably indirectly.  It's a Pokemon.  My username is a Pokemon almost everywhere I go.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

What have you done to prepare for this baby?

Do you have any fears or anxieties about this pregnancy or upcoming birth?

If you could go anywhere for a week, where would you go and why?

Hmm.  In my spare time I tend to just waste time on the internet.  I like to play Sims 2, read, watch movies and tv shows, and cross stitch also.

I have everything from when Elsa was born so we don't need much besides clothes.  We all just sleep together in one bed, so there's no nursery per se.  We keep baby stuff like clothes and diapers and toys in another room but it's not themed or personalized so he'll fit right in.

My fears mostly revolve around growing another too large baby and ending up with a second c-section.  Also bonding after a bout of gender disappointment.

If we're talking all expenses paid I think I'd say anywhere with a beach.  I'm ready for summer.

What is your favorite part of pregnancy?  Least favorite?

What are most looking forward to about the pregnancy?

What is one thing you can't wait to do after the baby comes?

Most favorite part is getting a big belly.  I am technically obese, and pregnancy is the only time I've experienced since I was little that I can wear shirts that cling to my belly and I don't feel self-concious.  It makes me feel good for once.  Least favorite part I guess is the varicose veins.

I'm looking forward to feeling the baby from the outside.

I can't wait to have a big fat margarita.

Another mama with one daughter born in February 2010, so I can't resist some Elsa questions smile.gif

What have you told Elsa so far about the pregnancy? How is she reacting? What are you planning on doing to prepare her for the baby's arrival?

What are Elsa's favorite things to do these days?

What are you most excited about/ most worried about with the transition to two kids?

By the way, I love the name Elsa!

I talk about how there's a baby in Mama's tummy, and say things about "when the baby comes," like sharing the milk and the diapers.  I ask her what brother's name is and get her to repeat my favorite names to see how it sounds when she says them, haha!  I tell her a lot that she's getting a new baby but I think it doesn't mean anything to her.  She knows what babies are and seems to like them, but we'll see how it is when the time comes.  I plan on getting her some books when we get closer.

Mostly she loves making noise and running around.  She loves to go outside when it's nice.  She's been pushing her baby doll around in a toy stroller for awhile, and she loves her some puzzles.

I'm excited about seeing her with a younger sibling, and watching them grow up together.  I'm worried about just logistical things really.  How will I make the sleeping arrangements work, because she's still in our bed and I don't particularly want to move her out.  How will I respond to her needs as well as the baby's?  That kind of thing.

I always worry about how I'm going to arrange sleeping too.  When my son was born, we couldnt lay him down.  I mean, no matter how long he'd been asleep, the moment you laid him down, he woke up and cried.  FOR MONTHS.  But one day, we had to lay him down to do something and we laid him next to his sister....TADA, he stayed asleep. He felt a warm body adn that was all he needed. He's been sleeping with her off and on for years now. Mostly on for the last 6 years. And we have a toddler still in bed.  But I'll just let her squeeze over there by Daddy and keep the newborn on my side.
