Anybody doing anything to pamper themselves as we all approach (or are already in) the third trimester?
I've been taking long baths in the evenings, and am thinking about getting a pregnancy massage next month.
What a lovely idea :-) I'm hoping to do some pampering the first/second week of May - I'm planning a mani/pedi day with my mother and probably a massage for myself at some point. Maybe I'll get some ideas here - I love the idea of taking long evening baths. I haven't had one pregnant, but I've always found them so relaxing!
Oh that all sounds lovely. I so wish I could afford to go for a message or a pedicure :) Or had a bathtub. I am dying to sit in some nice warm water. There is a spa in town that has a water circuit of different types of baths in various temps but being pregnant you are only allowed to go in the warm salt water bath. It costs 40 to go but maybe it is still worth it.
Great ideas! Yes, a bath. Oh! I've been fantasizing about taking a bath is month (we don't have a tub) so that is on my list.
I'd like to get one pedicure before the birth if possible (maybe a Mother's Day gift??) and I am looking for a good massage therapist who can work out the tension in my legs/glutes.
The one daily thing that I do that makes me feel pampered is to rub this really yummy shea butter on my tummy (it is mixed with vanilla and ylin-ylang oils and some other really good stuff!). I just love the scent and in those few moments I feel just lovely. :)
My child may be on the outside during the third trimester, but I'm continuing the pampering I'd started up not long ago: a latté and GF muffin at my favorite coffeeshop a few times a week. Sans DS. ;)
Fortunately, my favorite coffeeshop is a quarter mile from the NICU. And I can take a university shuttle there and back on days I don't feel up to walking.
(Overdid it these first two weeks, so my body is forcing me to take it easy. *sigh*)
I highly recommend me time. It's invaluable.
I like to visit a coffee shop and have treat all to myself every once in a while sans Other Children and then browse some shops and look at whatever I want for as long as I want. DH and I take turns heading out alone when we can and those couple of hours alone does wonders for us for the rest of the week.
I see a chiro every two weeks and have been forever. I sit at a desk all day so it's such a relief to go every other week. Massages I used to put off as long as I could for $ but since being PG I go for one every four weeks. Once I get to 36 or 38 weeks i'm going to go for one every two weeks. I'll be starting my mat leave two weeks before i'm due so in that time I plan on sleeping A LOT!! Getting a pedi, doing lunch and coffee dates with family and friends.
I have been going to the chiro once a month since I got the positive preg test. I think I might up it to every 2 weeks, just like the doctor's appointments. I have a gift certificate for a massage that dh got me, I need to book that.
I like how I feel after a massage, and I like how my toes look after a pedicure, but I really don't like going. I think I'm the only woman on the planet who hates pedicures. I am actually hoping to polish my toenails this afternoon so I can wear flip flops to work and look a little less sloppy...wish me luck with that. Maybe I can do like two toes a day...
I am going out for a decaf latte and a GF peanut butter and oat square in an hour with my BF. That's my little splurge. I'm enjoying my last few weeks of having my days free while the kids are in school. On my days off, anyway.
I found a $100 gift card for a spa that DH gave me about 4 years ago and he called yesterday and it is still good! I was hoping to have a pedicure but they don't do them anymore but they do offer pregnancy messages :) So I booked a pregnancy message for the 12th of April. I am so happy :)
Now I really want to go get a pedi! It's SO hot where I live already (84 degrees and climbing- though that's not as hot as it gets here, but to a preggo, that's sweltering! Lol!) Anyway, I *need* to start wearing flip flops and sandals, but I haven't been able to get around to trying to do my toes myself. I can barely shave my legs let alone reach my toes for long enough to make them look nice! My MIL will sometimes come by and offer to sit with the children for an hour or two...maybe next time she offers, I will go get a coffee or something or go for the pedi if DH is on board w/the cost (it's been since before our wedding 5+ years ago, so it shouldn't be an issue).
I do take a bath about every other night w/epsom salt (it's wonderful, btw if you haven't tried it). Though, the thought of getting in and out of the tub is always daunting. It's just a small apartment tub. But at least we have a tub. :-) I also started seeing the chiropractor again (went for the 2nd time yesterday), and that's always a treat.
My sister in law got me a gift card for a pregnancy massage at a really fancy spa. Apparently I the massage also allows me use of their pools and she suggests I bring a book and spend the whole afternoon. I think I'm going to book it for late April when I start to reduce my work hours. I can't wait!
