Dealing with Guilt from PPD

Thread Starter

I don't know about anyone else but I went through PPD with my first two of three kids.  My oldest is now six and I still feel so cheated on that first year of her life.  Does anyone else have this kind of guilt?

I wrote about it here and there is a great Post Partum Progress article in it too.  I would love to know if others feel this way.

Hi Vicky!  Welcome to MDC!

While I didn't feel cheated by my PPD, I do wonder how things might have been different.  So many people have said "Oh!  You're a SAHM!  That must be fun!" and I've always kind of felt guilty that--NO--I would not describe it as fun.  Valuable, rewarding, important, etc., but not "fun."

Also--a quick idea--if you are using your real first and last names, you may want to open a different account.  Conversations on MDC often show up on Fb or copied and pasted elsewhere, and everything you post will be internet searchable.

Thanks for introducing this thread.  It's a good topic.
