trying to make summer plans, need advice on road tripping while pregnant! « Back to Group Discussions

I need some advice from you folks who have done this before!

My partner and I are planning to go to the wedding this summer of our dear friends. I'll be 25 weeks (6 months) at the time of the wedding and it's a 12-hour drive. If we decide to drive we'll probably carpool with another couple so we can split up the driving four ways. But will I be totally miserable on such a long road trip? Will we have to stop frequently for me to pee and walk around (hence making the drive even longer)? I've never been pregnant before and have no idea what to expect. 

We could potentially take the train, but it's $$$ for what's essentially going to be a long weekend, and we'd need to book soon to get a sleeping compartment.

Yeah, you'll be a little uncomfortable but the peeing thing will mostly subside during the 2nd tri.  But a 12 hour trip will be broken up regardless every couple of hours for gas/pee breaks regardless so I wouldn't sweat it too much.  I think that everyone else will be expecting it so I wouldn't worry too much.  :)

I'm getting ready for a 15 hour road trip on Friday and we plan on stopping every 2-4 hours as need be. We'll have our kids with us so everyone will be taking potty breaks ;)

At 25 weeks you'll probably still be comfortable enough. I'd make sure you hydrate well, take lots of snacks, and stop every couple of hours to stretch your legs and walk around a little.

Thanks for the advice, all of you! I guess we'll plan on the road trip. I'm looking forward to it since it'll probably be our last kid-free long-distance trip (with our kid-free friends, no less) for a while.
