Belly Binding anyone?

Anyone belly binding after the birth? I would really like to, but don't have any experience with it since I didn't do it after my previous births. I've heard it can be done with a wrap (like a moby) and I have seen the velcro kind at places like babies r us. Any suggestions/experience with this would be appreciated!

Crazy that in less than 6 weeks I could be holding my baby!!! eeeek!! So excited!

I don't know if I'm going to or not.  I guess I need to read up on it more.

I plan on it. my grandmother did it after all four of her pregnancies and she swore it helped her midsection look normal faster (she's always been tiny). she just used a long piece of woven fabric. I'm probably going to opt for the stretchy/velcro kind for convenience.

I'm doing it.  I used a stretchy corset thingy from walmart last time, a shrinxhips, and a gabriella maternity binder from amazon.  I didn't really like any of them, honestly.  The corset dug into my leg, and the other two wouldn't stay in place.  I was up and down a lot, and the amount of tightness I needed changed based on my position.  It was really uncomfortable and such a pain to keep adjusting them.

My pg before that one, I used a stretchy exercise neoprene coated velcro thing.  I didn't want the water loss part of it, so I always wore it over a nursing tank, and under my regular shirt.  It was comfortable, and helped a ton, but made skin to skin with the baby difficult.

THIS time, I think I'm going to experiment with some stretchy fabric and just tie it over my clothes or something, sorta sarong style?  I don't know.  Something, because it does feel SO good, and helps so much.

I'm interested in this, but I'm cheap too.... Last time I tried using a woven wrap as a belly binder, but it was way too bulky. I'm thinking about some wide stretchy fabric- like a jersey or wide tensor style bandage? I saw a youtube video on belly binding with some Japanese fabric that I can't remember the name of that is long but super thin and only stretchy right at the end so you can snug it up and tuck the end in. Also had a specific wrapping method that made sense, but would make it awfully tricky to pee!

very interested in learning more - i'm mostly concerned that it won't be comfortable - when I'm nursing, baby carrying, and then because our babes are coming when the weather is getting so warm here -- will I be too hot?

I have an umbilical hernia that appeared after my first pregnancy, and also have complete diastasis recti - really frustrating... always looking for solutions to the problem.

I'm thinking about it.  I know it really would have helped with DS.  But my main problem is my shape.  It's the problem I have right now with my support belt - the difference between my waist and hips makes anything bunch/roll, which is going to mean it's not very effective.  And it's fairly uncomfortable.  But I'd be going with the elastic/velcro option, just because it's simplest.  Something I have to tie on is too much work.

I plan to. Last time I had the medela one and it sucked. Planning on trying the LLL one this time...

I did this with all of my babies, but out of a feeling of neccessity- not really "knowing" anything about how. My stomach just felt so week and my back was taking the brunt of it, that after my first, I used a woven scarf and pulled it around several times. Not perfect, but it helped.

With my second, someone gave me a ACE type back support with a box of maernity things. It worked a lot better than the scarf....

So with baby number three, my honey grabbed another (new) ACE type back support brace, with velcro and someboning on the sides-less than $30 .It worked great for the first several weeks, then I broke out one ofmy prepregnancy, vintage fashion corsets- with eye hooks down the front. Still, it wasn't perfect. I am sure tehre could be a better solution, but at least these didn't cost too much. The biggest issue I had with these- the velcro starts to not feel tight enough afte the first week or so post-partum, and it isn't very breathable. then the corset doesn't quite provide the coverage I would like, I ould like it to stat higher and come down lower. However, when I looked up some actual braces intended for this on one of themidwife supply stores, they didn't look like they would do any better on the breathability than the ACE brace....so ACE brace it will be for me :)

I have one of those ones with the velcro and used it last time... I think it helps relieve back pain since the core muscles are so wacky and so it helps support the back and such.

I know the LLL one comes in a 9 in and a 12 in

With my first two kids I had a reg birth with Sång I had a c-section and the doctor gave me a wrap, velcro, my cousin who had a c-section said it heled her stomach muscles heall in the correct position instead of healing round sort of out like they healed back to normal. in the first few days at the hossy the nurse put it on me now I wear it a few hrs a day i feel like it helps support my healing muscles.

I've decided to try out the Bellefit, I'm reading really great things about it. the only downside seems to be the price. the one without the zipper is quite a bit cheaper, though still expensive imo.

I also have a shorter woven wrap that I can use as a manual binder if this doesn't cut it.

wow, that is expensive. I wonder if it is worth it.... It looks like a nice product and if you do use it every day for months it may be worth it.

I had a free one from my midwife like this one: http://www.soap.com/p/ita-med-elastic-abdominal-binder-4-panels-unisex-12-inch-wide-2xl-xx-large-180711?site=CI&utm_source=CSE&utm_medium=CPC_S&utm_campaign=Google&utm_content=pla&ci_sku=ZPO-079&ci_gpa=pla&ci_kw={keyword}

but honestly, it wasn't that comfortable and would ride up strangely...

my mw is recommending to get 3- 6" ace bandages, she said most wraps she's tried have rolled up and have been uncomfortable and this has been the best method for her. she also said it allows a more customized fit, she said she'll help me wrap right after birth. i'm waiting to see the ace bandages on sale before buying because they're still $10-12 each. i think i might have one or 2 at my brother's house already i'll have to look for. and if this doesn't work out, i'll give another method a try.

Ace bandage huh? That I can manage! I'll have to go look for that. I need to buy more stupid chux pads anyway :/

i am going to try it! i got one of these malaysian belly wrap things, a bengkung: https://www.google.com/search?aq=f&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=bengkung. it came in the mail a couple weeks ago... it's long & will probably take like 5 minutes or so to lace up, so that might be annoying, but it's soft & all cotton. i read people put their underwear on over it, so i will try that ;)

I don't think you could wear that under clothes? Looks like it would work really well though. What site did you order yours from?

i think under loose dresses? i don't really wear pants very often. i got it from little tots store. they shipped it pretty quickly from singapore.

persephassa, which one did you order? There are 3 on the little tots site and I am trying to decide which one i want. I really really like those as opposed to the shorter kind from BRU or someplace.
