First Father's Day Gift Ideas

Does anyone have anything planned for their DH yet?

I'm due on the 7th, so with Fathers Day on the 17th this year it's likely the baby will make his or her appearance in the few days before.  I'd really like to have something ready ahead of time for him to open that morning, but I have ZERO ideas.

Ooh! Great thread! I hadn't even thought about this yet. I'm not due until the 23rd, but I still would like to do something fun for DH. I'll have to give this some thought. If I think of anything I'll post.

Would he be interested in music?  There are some parenting songs I really like.  My DH is super particular/snobby about music though and refuses to listen to or like most of them.

Otherwise I'd probably just get him a picture frame to put a photo of himself and the baby in.

Last year I started making Rum Cakes for all the dads in my life (DH, my dad, FIL, grandpa, brothers). I made one big one for DH then mini-loaf ones for the rest. I think I will make a tradition of it since dads are so hard to buy for, but who doesn't love rum?!

I guess this year I should get ahead of the game and make them sooner rather than later since they freeze well.

I love your rum cakes idea--that's something I never would have thought of and I think that DH would love it!

I'm due a few days after Father's day so that means anytime around those two weeks. :)

OR - you could start out on an awesome positive note, treat your husband as you want to be treated on Mother's Day in the following years.  Serve him breakfast in bed and don't ask him to change any diapers or do anything with the baby all day.  Give him a free day to himself to do what he wants to do!  (Although this will be quite difficult to do if you are only a few days PP)

That's how my dh is every day, a free day to himself!

I snagged a nice hiking backpack style carrier on Woot.com a few months ago and stashed it in my closet for Father's Day. Love the rum cake idea.

If baby has arrived, you could do something like this...i have seen it with all three letters in one shot, or three different shots (one between the tiny feet, one by face, one by hands, etc.) with the different letters in a three part frame....IMG_2887.JPG

Ooh! Love the rum cakes and pictures ideas. I think I'm going to get DH this: http://www.kotulas.com/deals/4in1-paper-log-maker#pr-header-148828

It's not the most romantic gift in the world or anything, but DH made one himself that works okay, but only makes one brick at a time. So now every time we get that magazine he stares at this thing for a good solid 5 minutes. We get a lot of junk mail, and get the paper every day, so this would help us out with recycling and re-using all of that paper waste. Plus we have a fire pit in our back yard that we would use the bricks in, and they're really nice for cold mornings when we're camping to get the fire going quick.

ETA: We use the bricks for firestarters, not as a replacement for wood.
