Queer & Pregnant & Parenting - April, May, June! - Page 12
Isa, your LO is beautiful! Her face looks like a medieval angel's in that first pic.
Seraf, those pics of your son are pretty cute too! Love the amber necklace.
Sara, go go labor vibes!
qmama42, I hope day care continues to go OK for you! I think about my daughter all day when I'm at work... luckily her dad texts me updates and the occasional pic, so I can sneakily indulge by holding my Blackberry in my lap in my cubicle.
As for us, not much new to report. I'm a little concerned that A hasn't been able to roll from back to front yet (she's almost five months old). If she still hasn't rolled at her six month checkup, I guess we'll ask our (awesome, midwife-recommended) pediatrician about referrals.
Any other suggestions you guys might have? We're already giving her several tummy time sessions a day, maybe we should add more.
sorry i have been non-existent on here of late. life is crazy busy with three kids and some other stuff going on which i will update you about NOW! lol !! oh but first congrats on all the new babies! so cute cute cute! :)
let's see where to begin? well the biggest news is that dp is now a sahm! we ran the numbers, we discussed it at length and then decided it was the best choice for our family at this time. ds2's last day at daycare was the thursday before good friday. dp has him and dd at home all day and ds1 is in pre-k from around 8am til 3pm. it's been a challenge - ds2 is your typical 2yo boy - into everything, doesn't want to listen, has temper tantrums, gets his feelings easily hurt etc... he and ds1 rile each other up no end too. boys! ;)
i adopted dd back in the middle of march so she officially has my surname. dp's paperwork is in for her surname to be changed too so pretty soon we'll all have the name last name. :) i never thought dp would do that so it made me really happy. :D
AND...if that wasn't enough upheaval and change for one year - we've decided to put our house on the market!! our school cluster is basically crap. with ds1 leaning toward being gifted he would just get lost in the elementary school - it's rated 1 out of 10 by greatschools, it's test results are way below the state average and 70% of the children don't have english as their first language. we applied to 2 charter schools but just ended up on the wait lists. we also applied to magnet schools in our county but we don't hear about those until late next month. we already have a good idea where we want to move to so our lives consist of decluttering and putting items into storage right now! phew!!
isa, that babe of yours is just perfect! BE.U.T.FUL family you are! I've been enjoying the pics on FB, as well!
Sara, sending ELV your way, even though it would prob be best for little Soren to bake a week or so longer...
qmama, I'm glad that leaving DD at daycare wasn't so bad... I hope the day went well for both of you!
Brite, thinking about you and DD today...
Seraf, I checked out your blog... even more great pics! yay!
library, I'm dying to see some pics of Alice... I don't even think I've seen any new ones on FB, lately. I know you're very busy, but pretty please can we see your beautiful red-head? when you have a moment, of course.
desert, I keep meaning to ask if I can share a pic of that painting... or if you've got a good pic, maybe you'll share?
I know I'm missing lots of you... as now we aren't "graduating" from the thread, we are getting to be quite a large group... not that I'm complaining in any way!
afu, Silas is now walking so well. he almost never crawls anymore! he "pops" (stands w/o pulling up), and is climbing onto things up to a foot high! sleep has gone to shit again, he's still nursing more than ever, he loves water in a sippy cup and is working very hard at talking.
Isa~ WHAT A BEAUTIFUL GIRL~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So sweet and so wonderful. Lucky for you that she's so chill. I'll tell ya, Alice was never chill not for one stinkin' day, so I hope your luck holds.
Wehrli~ I'm so sorry about your baby's sleep. We've actually had a few good days in a row. Now that DP's done with her dissertation, I have no qualms about making her do the midnight attendance. If I go to Alice in the night, she cries more and demands boob, but if DP goes, she knows she ain't getting nothing and goes back to sleep much more quickly.
Sara~ Come on baby!!!
Brite? NosReves? Thinking of you and waiting for news...
Hello to everyone else. I have only a moment to write. Skipped work yesterday to do UK visa stuff (though, honestly, DP and I have had some serious arguments lately and part of me is starting to wonder if I'm a fool to go through with all this...) and now I'm having to run to catch up with all the end-of-year stuff that's coming up. DP's mom is coming Friday to spend a few weeks with us, and now Alice has pinkeye. NICE!! So that's just what we need to go with all our other stresses. I still try and pack a few boxes a night to keep up with everything, and am hoping for the best in all things. I have some cute new pix of Ace, I'll post them asap.
Indigo, wow! Life sure is busy for you guys, but it sounds like it's headed in a truly wonderful direction. I hope your house sells quickly and painlessly.
Library, you sound equally busy! I hope things get easier on you soon and that Mean Girl behaves herself.
Sara, yay for losing your mucus plug! Soren will be here before we know it.
Isa, it's worth saying again: your daughter is so lovely. Actually, your whole little family is lovely!
Seraf, the way that being the non-bio mom is different for you really interests me. I like hearing your perspectives.
Wehrli, of course you can share pictures! You own it. I did take pictures of it before I mailed it, but they are on my computer at home and likely won't be posted for awhile.
Things are crazy for me these next couple days! Tomorrow I'm flying to Denver for a major adoption conference, in which I hope to majorly participate in a group conversation about donor conceived individuals, as well as promote my family's little organization, One Little Starfish. Our purpose is to promote openness within adoption and we are working to reform antiquated adoption practices like not giving adoptees their original birth certificates. I come home Sunday. Unfortunately, DW isn't able to go and I'm going to miss her so much!
In other news, our second Bradley class is tonight. Hopefully it goes better. Also, last night DW and I each read a chapter of Harry Potter to the baby - yep, we are just that nerdy. I think Evie is starting to respond to me, because she always kicks and flutters when I put my hand on DW's belly.
indigoscot, I'd be interested in hearing how you and your partner adapted your budget so one of you could afford to stay at home! That's the transformation we've been going through for the last couple months.
Library, with everything you and your DP have going on, it's no wonder it's a strain on your relationship! I hope you guys get a few minutes to rest, reconnect and remember all the things you cherish about each other.
DesertSunsets, the OneLittleStarfish org sounds really interesting! My spouse is adopted, and apparently in PA it's *very* hard for an adoptee to search for birthparents...
Mizyellow, thanks for the suggestions! I guess you could say my LO is kind of chubby - she's at 85% for both height and weight. We think she's going to be a lady wrestler. Seraf made a good suggestion on another thread to give her some diaper-free time, so maybe we'll try that next!
In other news, it seems like everyone in our family has a bunch of doctors' appointments at once! Most of these are routine, or for minor things, but it still causes some scheduling jams since we only have one car, which I use to commute to work. I'm starting to feel like the "Healthcare Taxi"...
I'm sorry I've been absent for a couple of weeks. I've just spent the morning catching up...
ad astra, that is wonderful news about the twins!! Congratulations and welcome to the two little ones. I hope you’re all doing well. Would love to hear more about them and your birth story when you have time!
Isa, Congratulations!! Welcome, Edith Josephine!!! So happy for you guys!! She is absolutely beautiful!!! Can't wait to hear more about her and the birth.
Rainbow, I’m so, so sorry to hear the news about your nephew. Thinking of your family right now. I’m also sorry that you have all this worry about your little girl right now, and I’m sending you lots of positive thoughts and energy, and hoping for good news. I hope the appointment went well yesterday, and that she's doing okay. My heart is with you all right now.
Library, congrats to DP on the submission of her dissertation. I can only imagine how busy you all must be with the upcoming move! Good luck with everything!
Sara/Sera, yay for the mucous plug coming out! So soon now.... can't wait!
Crystal, I can only echo what these wonderful and wise women have already said. Look after yourself and Cohen first. I hope that DP agrees to counseling. Please take care!
Planet, great to 'see' you! Hope you're doing well. Can't wait to see that belly pic.
I know I've missed so many of you... Hi!!! Hope everyone is doing well!
AFM, 17 weeks. We have our anatomy scan u/s scheduled for Monday, May 7 (and we're opting not to find out anything about the sex). DP is working out of town on her independent practicum, which is the last part of her nurse practitioner training, during both the u/s and the follow-up midwife appt. She's trying to see if she can get home for either of them, and she's really disappointed that she might miss them. I'm going to miss her too if she can't make it, but I understand that this is just the way life is right now.
I've been feeling the first flutters of baby moving the past few days. At first I wasn't sure, but then it was clear that it was the feeling of weird butterflies that everyone describes. DP suggested I drink a glass of orange juice when I felt it one night, and sure enough the sugar made the LO more active. So cool!!!
Will catch up again soon. I have to run. We're staying at my parents' while our bathroom is being ripped up and renovated, so I have to go home to feed the 2 cats. Love to all.
Isa, yay for close cousins!
Indigo, y'all sound crazy busy!
Wehrli, I can't believe he is so big already. What does he talk about?
Library, boo to pinkeye!
Desert, good luck at your conference!
Glasses, there are very few problems in life that a little naked time can't cure.
Dandy, yay for a scan, I think it's very fun to wait to find out.
Life here is good. Sara wants to go for a 3 mile walk (yeah, that's 3 laps around town for us).
Sara- How are you feeling today? Can't wait to see Soren's little face.
Isa- Edith is beautiful, love all the pics!!! Keep those pics coming because you know we love pictures!
Ahope- We thought of you yesterday while we were in Geneva.
Library- We hope things between you and DP setlle down soon. Do you think the stress of moving is causing the arguments? DS was kicked out of school yesterday for pink eye, I guess it's going around. Can't wait to get another glimpse of Alice, so when you're ready please post those pics.
Werhli- Silas is becoming such a big little man already! Maybe one day he'll be able to have a conversation with L because she will not be quiet.
Seraf- Those pictures of S are adorable. Please keep them coming so that L can keep herself busy and quiet staring at him. You mentioned having more pics on your blog, what blog? The video is adorable, can't wait for L to wake up so that I can show it to her.
Here are some recent pics:
Here is DP and L:
Here is L and I:
The last one is DD1 giving L a lesson on rainbows:

Mami~ I love those pix!!! The rainbow lesson is the best! Though you gotta love those open-mouth 'kisses'. Alice kisses me and her baby dolls by kinda smacking her face into them/us. It's pretty cute. And yes, moving/wedding/PhD stress is causing a lot of fights (though her being a sulky, immature Cancerian doesn't help...)
Dandy~ Nice to see you and glad you're doing well! It's so amazing to feel the baby move, eh? Good luck on your scan. And yay for you keeping the secret. I loved knowing about Alice for as long as possible, but I have to say I'm also looking forward to DP, who doesn't want to know beforehand, and having the 'It's a....!" surprise. Fun!
Brite? NosReves? Still hoping for news!!!
Not much here. Just stress and work and trying to keep myself busy at work when, as I read somewhere, you could fill the Louvre with the shits I do not give.
I swear I'll get pix of Ace up! Really! It's just that I put her to bed and then I pack and eventually I collapse on the sofa with my glass of wine and then can't be bothered to go find the uploader. But soon!!!
