Queer & Pregnant & Parenting - April, May, June! - Page 5

OMOM—SUCH a cutie! As someone over in my ddc said, ‘you mean I get to have one of those?’ Definitely making me feel better about the wait! And good luck figuring out who carries next—it sounds like 4 might not be too much of a stretch…
Nos—sorry to be slow on the veggie parade (and now unable since I’m on the crappy computer) but I am SO, SO excited for you and your DP!! Can’t wait to see you on this board all the time!
Seraf—Most definitely!
Sara—I would be nervous about Shay’s baby time, too, but I think the truth is that any small thing he may lose from having a brother around so close in age he’ll more than make up for by having a brother so close in age. My dad and uncle are a year apart and even now that they’re coming up on 60 are super, super close—they even talk about retiring at the same time and leaving their wives at home so they can go rent a cabin out west somewhere and do manly things like ski and hike and commune with nature. I think S&S will get some real benefits out of the arrangement, in the end.
AFM—breakfast was distracting until we got to the midwife and confirmed that nothing is going on. Baby is fine—she looked at my NST chart after about 2 minutes and said that we had to wait out the 20 but that we already passed—so that’s good, but the kid is right back up under my ribs again and none of us can find my cervix (TMI? Ha! I laugh at TMI!). I was bummed out yesterday but today I think I’m feeling a little better. My hips are KILLING me, though. But it’s DP’s birthday, so I’m going to tidy things up around here and see what I can do to be in a better mood. Midwife also said not to do the nipple stuff, though she did OK castor oil, so last night DP took me on an Ikea walking date and we bought me some weird rosehip drink that I think I can safely ruin for myself since I won’t miss it if I never, ever want to drink it again. Not for another week, though. At this point, a week doesn’t seem so bad..

delurking to congratulate my fellow ttc'er on that awesome beta number!! congrats nos!!  when will your first ultrasound be?  (i'm putting in my bet early for twins!! love.gif )

i've been meaning to step out of the shadows and introduce myself, so i'll do that as well.  i was on these boards several years ago, but stepped away from MDC after being "found" by a family member and losing my anonymity. im back now with a new username.  my partner and i have been together for 12 years and have three little ones (all IVF babies after years of ttc).  we did a FET cycle in feb/mar and i'm now 6w6d pregnant with our fourth.  first ultrasound is monday.

looking forward to getting to know you all better!

Sara, just popping in to say that a friend of mine adopted two newborns who were five or six months apart, and those kids are now inseparable. Yes, Shay will get less one-on-one time, but isn't that the plight of the third baby anyway? I think that having a sibling so close in age is an amazing gift! Good luck hanging in there!

I am positively loving all the baby photos! Now if we could add in some belly photos, it would be PERFECT!

I will be back later for some personals, but wanted to say congrats to June Bug and nosreves! June Bug, what is your EDD? And nosreves, when you are ready to be added onto the roster, just update with your EDD and I will add you as well!

One last thing! Sara, DW was so irked by not getting your Buffy trivia question right that she went back through many episodes to learn the truth about the poster on the back of the door. She reports that it is different types of chocolate. I believe that is cheating, since we didn't remember correctly, but I still wanted to post the answer for all of DW's work!

I googled it right away and indeed, it is a chocolate poster ;) I've never actually seen Buffy!

I don't have a whole lot of time, this house needs cleaning desperately, but I wanted to let all the Chicago/Midwest folks and those meeting here for Chicago pride weekend that we do, indeed, plan on being around at some point for a meet-up. in exactly what capacity, idk yet. I somehow forgot that it's a little more than an hour and a half drive, so we may try and get a hotel or something... it'd be nice to make a wknd of it (it's DP "bday wknd"). but we will see. i am excited to see those of you I haven't yet met, see those I have met, and most of all, see all the kiddos together! smile.gif

Hi everyone! still here, still preggo. -sigh-

As for Pride, let's tentatively set it up that we'll have some sort of afternoon get together at my house on Saturday. More details once we get closer, but as long as it isn't pouring that should work out well (if it is, we can look for rain locations!). Then if people want to head over to Boystown for the pride festival stuff later in the day that could happen, or if we want to plan some kind of parade-watching contingent on Sunday, or whatever, we can work out the details of who is interested in doing what, or we can just eat a bunch of snacks and oogle babies and call it a day, depending on how we all feel. Sound good?

Hi Junebug, welcome on over! smile.gif

Hello everyone!!  Why have I been gone so long? I have no idea! Time just seems to get away from me, and SO MUCH has been going on in our world.  DP is almost done with her dissertation, but this means she works until 2 in the morning every night. I'm trying to pack the house slowly~ at least a box or two a night. So far I've filled fifteen boxes only of books and I still have quite a few shelves to empty.  Mean Girl is out of control~ I won't even go into it but her new project is wanting the teachers to take the books they use to their classrooms so we can throw unused books away. So that the library can be completely empty? And the teachers' classrooms full of books they have no  room for and which can't then be accessed by others? Ok...  I'm also trying to apply for jobs in South Carolina (the land where you don't have to ever answer your email, apparently...) and am having  no luck so far and am afraid I'll get bad references from Mean Girl and that won't help matters.  Alice turned one last Sunday and it's like she looked at the calendar and said "One's when I'm supposed to walk, right? Ok, I'll get on that" and has been standing on her own and starting to toddle around the house.   We're trying to find a house, apply for loans, pack, write a dissertation, plan a wedding, try and arrange pet-sitting for the summer that we're going to be on a getting-married-vacation for six weeks on and on and on and on and on.  So I'm sorry I've been away. I'm about to go back and read everything I've missed and will get on top of my personals soon.

Isa~ have that baby!!!

Love to you all and more soon xoxoxo

Isa, if you have her today it will be a Friday the 13th birthday. Tomorrow is the 100th anniversary of the titanic being sunk and the next day is tax day. You can't lose!

I'm game for whatever. We would like to do all 3 but don't need to travel in a pack the whole time. Well, I suppose we travel in a pack anyway, but you know what I mean.

Does anyone here have or know how to deal with very long hair? Osh has been getting a lot of tangles and mats overnight which are leading to a lot of breakage in the back. I'll post pictures if that helps. I am at a loss for how to prevent this and he feels strongly about keeping it long.

EEEEK!! Updating to squee excitedly about all the new bfps!!! NosReves!!!! SO EXCITED!!!!! And Junebug, yay!!!!

And Sara, I'd TOTALLY have gotten the Buffy  question if I'd been on time.  And to whomever said they'd never seen Buffy~ wow!!!!!!!!!!!   Get right on that!!!

LOVING all these pix!!!

Seraf~ Hooray for tax day babies! That was Alice's original due date.  As for long hair, mine used to be super long and the only way to keep it from knotting up overnight is to sleep with it in a braid. Makes it nice and wavy the next day too!

Library, cross post. Wow on all your busy stuff. Good luck. And Osha says thank you, he will start braiding it before bed if that will keep his hair long.

(apparently I'm now going to clog up the board with one-line posts....)   I just got to the discussion of where I'd been, and as I was reading speculation as to whether or not I was in jail for beating up the Mean Girl SHE WALKED IN! Whew! I 'bout wet my pants but managed to close the window fast. Ugh.  Suffice to say I'm not in jail, but 11 of the 15 faculty members at my school have quit or applied for transfer for next year. Yowza.

WOW on the 11 of 15 number.  We're glad you're still a free woman.

Still catching up~ and still VERY excited for NosReves AND jealous now that I never got to pee on a stick that spoke anything but English...

Library I'm thrilled to see you back! I thought it was way funny that mean girl came in as you were reading my thoughts about where you were. I saw you on fb a bit so I figured either you werent in jail or in a nice one with wifi that allowed you to have your phone on you! Good luck with the job hunting. I know it's not fun at all!

Desert: I didn't mean to fluster your dp and make her waste her night finding the answer to such a silly question. The fetoscope is totally yours and will be mailed today (along with my taxes and something else I need to mail but can't remember what).

Afm: the van is getting an internal makeover today. I'm excited and hope it improves the gas milage a bit! We are also going to lowes to buy bathroom paint today! I hope to get the wall scraping finished today (Sara is helping lots! And she says I'm nesting).

thanks for the welcome  love.gif  desert, i'm due 12/1.

Seraf--for the long hair, have you tried satin or silk pillowcases to help prevent breakage?

Wishin, I have not tried satin or silk. The issue just started getting bad recently. Silk pillowcase, that kid's going to be a princess yet.
