Weekly Chat April 2nd!!! - Page 2

I am feeling overwhelmed here with all the stuff that needs to get done before baby.  Last appointment my due date was moved up, which helped contribute to my need to get everything done ASAP even more.  I have also been extra sleepy lately.  I found my whole set of keys in the trash can.   Right on top in the middle, when I went to throw away a kleenx. redface.gif  Pregnancy brain?

My belly has thickened so much now but is not really sticking out to where it is super obvious to everyone, but I can tell a big difference.  I am still at 23 weeks not feeling consistent movement at all but I do feel baby from time to timelove.gif.  I am really into dried fruit lately.  And fresh fruit.  And more fruit.  And Mexican food as usual.

Boots, glad the pain is better.  Hope everyone's scans go good.  Anda, happy anniversary coming up, neat it will be on Friday the 13th!

I'm into fruits (mostly berries and grapes) and cheese/eggs.. I cannot get enough of any of them. I think fruit is like 70% of my diet at the moment- the other 40% is dairy in various forms (milk, cottage cheese, cheese, yogurt, ice cream).. wondering how 'good' that is in terms of what I 'should' be eating

Not sure how much I will be around the next 2 weeks or so, heading to the US for a few weeks of intensive work and may or may not have time for my social networking redface.gif

I was in the middle of a lecture on the Louisiana Purchase when this one popped out: "In the middle of Jefferson's first pregnancy...."  The students thought it was hilarious and I was just surprised it hadn't happened earlier.  I've managed to make it to class with my notes and texts, so right now that's what I'm thankful for.  Sheepish.gif

ithappened, dairy and fruit sounds amazing!  Considering you could be eating ho-hos and donuts all day if you were in the U.S., I think you're doing pretty darn well.

LilyTiger - too funny....

It's all fruits, dairy and eggs here for me all day too.  And more than enough chocolate and ice cream (that counts as dairy too, right??)  Still hardly any veggies...  :|

ithappened - have a great trip and safe travels!  Are you traveling alone or taking DS/DH with you?  Remember to bring snacks!  ;-)

Veritas - good luck prepping for your move next week, hope everything goes well!

newmumjoy everyone but the dog is coming with me..!

I am sort of dreading the flight with DS because I'm just so tired and that's without travel.. even though its 'only 10 hours'. Most of the time we are flying/traveling as a family its to the west coast and its 20-26 hours each way so this is a 'short trip'. Luckily I get the weekend off when we arrive and won't be expected on campus until Monday afternoon, will be interesting as the dean/director have no idea I'm pregnant whistling.gif I sort of assumed when I booked the lectures/meeting in early January I would still be able to hide the pregnancy in this stage and it would be a non-issue during hiring talks (funny I know) biglaugh.gif

Scan was AWESOME! Have never seen anything like it in my life. We are having a daughter, and she is a real firecracker! Thankfully, she was great about giving us the girly bits shot, but she gave the tech a hard time with her head.
We are so in love.

This was so me with my daughter. :)  I had ultrasounds at least every month from 20 weeks on, due to a few different issues, and I was constantly making them recheck that she was "still a girl." No one seemed to mind, even though at no point did anyone have any doubt she was anything but a girl.

Congratulations, DesertSunsets! Another little girl for our group!  We seem to be skewing masculine at this point.

It is like that at work too, of the 6 pregnant ladies, we are expecting 4 boys and 2 girls. (They put 5 of us on the same team too, just recently, it has the non-pregnant women on the team a little freaked out. LOL)

ithappened - Have a great trip! I hope your time in the states is a nice change of pace.

desertsunsets - Baby girl! Yay!  I'm happy your scan went so well.

I'm definitely having some pre-scan anxiety this week. I've been feeling lots of movement all over the place (literally- top, bottom, lft, rt) and I keep wondering how just one baby can be all over the place in there! What if they find twins?! Irrational, I know, but this thought will not leave me alone. Friday can't get here soon enough. faint.gif

Good luck to everyone on their scans this week! Okay, we got our baby chicks this morning and I just had to post a photo. They are so freaking adorable.

I hope the trip went well, ithappened! That is the one major dread I have is that now we will be flying to visit family with baby/child.

Great news about your scan, DesertSunsets! Dh and I were totally smitten, especially with our 15w scan which was so much fun, compared with the down-to-business 19w scan.

If it's any consolation, LeAnn, my little one is head down and I feel movement all over, even towards the bowel last night! I think they still have a good deal of room to move around at this midpoint of pregnancy before it gets more cramped in there. I'm sure everything will be just great! And maybe you are having twins...

Oh, those chicks are cute, Sally!

sallyrae very cute! thanks for the photo, Id love to have chickens..

andaluza we found traveling before DS1 could walk (which for us was 9mo) travel was very easy! Especially air travel, he would sleep sometimes the entire flight....  I think before he turned 1yo he had been to something like 14 countries with us... oh yes, the life of gypsy research artist..  on that note- once the twins are born, we won't be traveling for the first 6 months or so as a family, DH and I will take turn leaving for business.... should be interesting for whichever one of us is left home with the 3 kids and the dog..

I had that thought before mine too.  Baby is insane in there some days and I was convinced there had to be two.  Thankfully there was only one.  I hoe this week flies by for you.

anyone experience really rapid heart rates for brief periods of time? The last few nights I've had these bouts where my heart feels like I just ran a race or sprint for a good 10-20 mins then is normal again..

Ithappens, I totally have fast heartbeat sometimes. I've googled it and read it can just happen in pregnancy. I check my blood pressure and make sure it's okay, then just lie down and try to calm my heartrate, although that usually makes me fall asleep!

Ithappened I had that often with my first, but none yet so far. I am with boots, I guess it can just happen during pregnancy.

I never had a racing heart with my pre-e...not to say that it doesn't occur or isn't a sign, it's just not something I had. I had a ton of pitting edema, protein in my urine and elevated bp.

With all the stress you've been feeling lately, it might be a mini panic attack. I used to get panic attacks when I had a lot of anxiety and my heart would race. In any event, just try to relax!

I haven't experienced the racing heart yet. But something really weird happened to me tonight on my way out of the supermarket. I was pushing the cart over a really bumpy cobblestone-like area of the sidewalk and after I stopped crossing it, I was extremely dizzy and almost had to sit down on the ground to recover. Maybe vertigo? Is that common in pregnancy? It was about 6:45 and I had only eaten a ginger chew since a substantial lunch (12:30), but it didn't feel as though I was starving (or even hungry) or low in blood sugar. I still didn't feel completely normal until I was sitting in the car for a few seconds.
