I have a Sugarpeas natural wool flannel cover with plum trim -- can I dye it with koolaid? What are the chances I could make it look decent with the trim and snaps -- I'd hate to ruin a perfectly good cover!

Yes you can dye it If it's plum I would NOT use the purple kool-aid on it b/c it make s very ugly, dusty purple color :LOL I"d get some food coloring and mix the purple myself, or buy some Wilton's frosting color stuff in the craft section at Wal-Mart, so you have a pre-mixed purple. of course you could just dye it pink :LOL

The wilton purple dyes blue. So far I haven't been able to find a good purple dye at all. Someone said that there is another purple Kool Aid (not grape, ubt another flavor) that makes a nice color. I've never seen it though. The only purple Kool Aid our S&S carries is grape

I have a TON of purple acid dye. If you want some tell me how light or dark you want and I'll send you enough to dye it in a small bowl

If you use the violet cake decorating paste from Wilton, you will have purples in the lighter tones, but a royal blue in deep tones. This is my experience with silks and wool.

Wow - thanks so much! Is it hard to dye it? I've never done anything like this before What is acid dye? Is that what you use to dye prefolds?

I guess a light purple would be fine with me - sort of a soft lilac color - would that take much dye?

Can you PM me with details?

Thanks so much!!
