Anyone have experience in Rockford with any natural friendly OBs? Any to stay away from? Or any experiences attempting natural childbirth at any of the hospitals, particularly Swedish American?

Until last week, I would have struggled to answer you question. If you are planning a hospital birth, I usually suggest looking into midwives or family doctors because they are less prone to use interventions needlessly. Dr. Ironside, a family doctor who has been highly recommended by many, has just returned to a practice where she can work OB again. She is currently at the UIC clinic in Rockton, IL, and I believe she still has privileges at Swedish American.

When I saw this thread title, I thought it was my thread (from last year), lol!

When I was searching, I heard fantastic things about Dr. Cunningham, who practices at Swedish American. I'm currently 17 weeks, but used him as my Gyn before getting pregnant, too, and can't say enough good about him. Most of what I've heard from other Rockford people, as well as some of the other office staff, is that he's one of the most natural friendly Swedes doctors. (I was limited to Swedes OBs due to my insurance.)

I haven't heard anything about Dr. Ironside from an OB perspective, but from a GP perspective, I've heard good things. I've dealt with her a few times myself over the phone (I'm an RN at Swedes), and she's always been good.

ETA: My doula has worked with Dr. Cunningham previously, too, and had good things to say about him from her experience. Another plus in my book.
