Is this it??? A thread to obcess over labor twinges and signs - Page 5

Woohooo! Laura, so excited for you! I bet you'll have an Earth day baby!! xo Beautiful birth blessings to you~~~
I'm having a few random cx's in my back which is a new sign that something is happening. This is how labour with #3 started and as soon as everyone was sleeping and I was relaxed...it took off. So here's hoping!!

Still pregnant over here, 40 + 1. Due dates come and go but discomfort is forever.

40+6 here....resigned myself to going 2 weeks over. I figure I might as well embrace it. I would love to have the baby by this weekend. We'll see if that happens~ Having a few random cx's and a bit of mucus but that's it....I've been having this for the past 4 days....Baby seems very comfy smile.gif

I'm thinking of re-phrasing the Lord of the Rings line as a personal mantra: a baby is never early, nor is he late; he arrives precisely when he means to.

Love it, Arby!

I'll have to keep saying it to myself....It gets tough when the ladies that are due 2 weeks before me are having their babies before I do....grrrrrr.

40+6 here, getting impatient.  Having some mild cramping contractions, lasting about a minute or so.  They started this morning at 20 minutes apart, now they are about an hour apart.  Boo Hiss.  I'm ready and impatient, lol, I want to meet this baby!  We don't know the sex, so I really want to know who's hiding in there.

I checked my cervix this morning, it is soft, squishy and stretchy, and I'd guess probably 3cm dilated.  Had a little brown mucus come out on my finger when I checked.

PLEASE COME SOON BABY!

41+1 here and nothing. Doctor wants to induce me if baby isn't here by Thursday... That's so soon!  That's also when my mom arrives and I had really been hoping for a day or two with just me, DH and baby before baby arrives, but at this point it doesn't look like that will happen.  No cramping, no random contractions, just regular old Braxton Hicks.  How do you manage to check your cervix?  I have tried a few times but I can't reach!  Any tips?

I'm starting to get a little grumpy over here...

Yay!! A due date buddy! I'm in exactly the same boat as you! Some random cx's, some mucusy stuff but that's about it. My cervix is about 3cm as well and very soft/squishy. We're totally ready as well....birth pool is blown up, hose is hooked up, birth supplies ready, my friends and mom are totally ready to be here....Now it's a waiting game....grrrr!  BABY, Your lease is up!!!!

I just squat or sit on the toilet to check. If it's too posterior you won't be able to find it.  It doesn't really tell you much anyway, but before any sort of induction I would 100% ask your Dr. what your Bishop's score is. If it's low, I personally wouldn't induce. If your cervix isn't ready, you have a very high chance of a section. If baby is doing well on the inside...there's no reason to induce. If you want more time, they cannot force you. Just stand you ground. You know what is best for you and baby:) xo

Tulafina - Sorry we're in the same boat, lol.  I've had absolutely nothing since 10am today except a couple of BHx.  I got out the breast pump and tried that, and I got nothing but sore nipples, lol, and a few drops of milk.  Guess DH and I will be DTD tonight, and every night to help evict this baby, lol.

40+6 here too.  i'm determined to avoid interventions unless there's a good medical reason to do so.  just read this post on an old thread and really liked it: http://www.mothering.com/community/t/759557/cohoshes/0_100#post_9302219 especially this exerpt:

The first step in any induction should be carbohydrate loading and good hydration. If mom has the reserves she needs for labor (i.e. run a marathon) she is more likely to go into labor on her own. Also she needs to be well rested. Sex, food and laughter (and less pressure) are a good place to start. I agree with Ina May that what gets the baby in, gets the baby out (energetically as well as physically)

sounds good to me!! :)

I have started telling people that first time babies come on average 41w3d so that puts my "due" date as May 5.  That is the date I have in my head.  Even then, I realize that about half of the mothers will be after that date, but at least it gets people off my back for now.

Yay.

41 weeks.

This sucks.

The only change today- baby is really quiet. That's it. I hope this happens soon. I'm starting to get really antsy.
Hugs to all the overdue Mama's xoxo

I'm frustrated too Tula. You are in good company. I am dreading a medical induction.

i just had my membranes stripped and scheduled an appointment for induction tuesday morning.  I'm just hoping spontaneous labour will happen before then.  I'm also vaguely considering trying a little castor oil. I guess you could say I'm getting a little impatient!
I'm glad to know I'm now the only one- hang in there, ladies!

tarabelle would try accupressure or accupuncture?

How am I not in labour yet?!? Im 'only' 39.5 wks, but Im now at 5 cm dilated! Being 3 cm...no big deal, 4...ok, but FIVE!? Really, this baby should be coming out now. Dd was born at 39+4, and I had been 4 cm for a few days. This is just nuts to me. Lol. I was 3 cm five weeks ago, and sorta worried about going early. Now Im worried I'll just dilate to ten without knowing and she'll just fall out! Lol.
That is a good question.  I would, but for some reason I am hesitant to and I'm not sure why.  I guess I keep making excuses not to make an appointment because I am sure labour is just around the corner and then it doesn't happen but the cycle continues.

41+1 here now greensad.gif I'm totally shocked that I'm still pregnant. I've had some real strong random cx's the past few days but my cervix is way posterior still. It's just weird. I had a meltdown yesterday:( Yelled at my kids and then looked down at my belly and yelled at the baby to GET OUT! And then I started sobbing. This is f'n torture....Why am I not going into labour???!!!!!
