Telling the News: Any weird reactions??? - Page 2

I seem to be the odd one out here, I told people about 3 days after I found out myself... at about 4-5 weeks or something :) I seriously can't keep a secret.  Everyone was really supportive here though, and in response to people who say you should wait 'in case something happens' - I wanted to be able to grieve openly if it did, which doesn't work as well if no one knows.  So far everything is fine, though.

Wow, there's some really strange reactions out there!

The only odd reaction we got was from Dh's cousin. We had to send her an e-mail to tell her b/c with my morning sickness we couldn't do it in person (and we're not terribly close so we don't call very often) So I sent an e-mail explaining that I was sorry I had to send an e-mail (due to morning sickness, couldn't do it in person) to tell her.

She didn't even respond - no call, no e-mail no nothing. We saw them at Easter, and still zero response! Though she was friendly and clearly knew (by some things she commented on) No hugs of congrat's, how are you feeling...nothing! It's not the first time we've weird interactions with them (nothing nasty), so it's not entirely shocking, but she had no reason that I can think of not to be happy for us....who knows....

Most have been happy for us, I've even had quite a few people say they were jealous, in a nice way, or "living vicariously through my pregnancy".  This is number 5 for us and a lot of our friends are "done" as they say.

But my MIL said, in front of our other kids, "Oh, I thought you were stopping at four!"  Then the tackiest and dumbest comment I got was, "You know how that happens, don't you?"  REALLY?  Then of course, "Was it planned?"   Is it any of your business?  I just say,  "God planned all of them!"  That usually stops them in their tracks.  For some reason people seem to think they have more of a right to comment because it is number 5.  Oh, how could I forget, "Are you trying to keep up with the Duggars?"  well considering I'll be almost 39, when baby comes, I don't think I'll make it to 19!lol.gif  Or, "Are you going to just keep going?"  I mean I'm not asking you to send them to college or even babysit for that matter!

Just say, CONGRATULATIONS!joy.gif

We still haven't told anyone, even the kids. Only me, DH, my doctor, dentist and midwife know. I guess I'm just waiting...until I really start showing. It still doesn't feel real.

We waited a long time to share the news with #1, for similar reasons.

Part of me wants to shout it out, as it's really exciting, especially at my age (44). But I hesitate. It's weird!

As for reactions, I'm really not sure what I'll get. I know I have a couple of friends who'll essentially say 'Are you crazy?" Others will be happy for us. No idea what family reactions will be, although I did just find out that SIL (42) and her new BF are going to start TTC! So, I guess they'll be happy for us.

Always interesting how people react, isn't it?
