How can I be showing already?

I'm 5 weeks 1 day pregnant and I have a second trimester belly already. I'm actually planning to get the box of maternity clothes from the attic over the weekend. What???

I think it's a combination of the fact that I had a pot belly already- I have PCOS and we all tend to have slender limbs and big tummies- and that pregnancy hormones and my digestive system don't get along. I had horrible morning sickness both pregnancies, starting around 6 weeks. (I am enjoying food now while I still can.) I don't have much nausea yet but I have extreme bloating, esp in the evenings. I feel like I could pop my belly with a pin. And the rest of the day it just feels very churny and at times acidic.

Anyway, I love being pregnant but wish I could fast forward fast the first trimester. I look so pregnant that people are starting to give me that belly stare, where they're like "Is she??" but don't want to say anything out of politeness. It's too early to tell everyone except close friends and family though. I'm really tempted to start wearing obvious maternity clothes and be vague about how pregnant I am, or just outright lie. Heheh.

Anyone else experiencing this?

First time pregnancy for me, but I did have to suck it up and buy a Bella Band a few days ago.  I know I'm definitely not showing at 5 weeks 1 day, but the bloat has been insane -- my pants haven't been buttoned since a few days before we got the BFP.

Yeah I mean obviously it's not my uterus, but the bloat looks so pregnant it might as well be. Uncomfortable, too. I know that some women actually get a bit smaller after the first trimester when the bloating subsides. That may be me this time around. But I've always showed early. I am 5'1" with a short torso even for someone my height. There's nowhere for bloat or baby to go but out. I got a lot of "are you sure it's not twins???" with my first. :p

i am almost 6 weeks, not showing at all, all clothes still fit comoftably. I heard we should only gain between 2lbs-5lbs in the first trimester.

Well, I'm bloated, but I can't say that I've gained any weight -- I don't think the two (bloating and weight gain) are the same?  I used to bloat a bit in the week before AF was due, so I imagine the hormones are causing a similar reaction now that I'm pregnant. As far as weight goes, I haven't noticed a difference, but then again, it's not something that I'm being hyper vigilant about. Just trying to continue eating well and exercising-- the rest will work itself out in the end.

I'm getting bloat here and there too.  Today, I'm fine but a few days ago, none of my pants were fitting right.  I'm sure I have many more bloat days ahead of me in the weeks to come - early pregnancy always makes me so bloated and constipated (sorry for the TMI!).

Actually I weighed myself this morning and I've lost three pounds. Weird! My appetite has been down but I didn't realize how much less I must have been eating over the past few weeks. It's ironic because I've been trying to kick start weight loss for months now. Of course I still look like I've gained due to the bloat. Anyway, I know it'll be short-lived. I bought some frozen kale at the grocery store; I feel like I need to up my intake of green veggies and frozen kale is easy to add to just about anything. I figure if I'm taking in less I should make each calorie count.
