Little comet tail one size diaper issues?

Any one used this pattern?  I made several and they all leak horribly.  I used 2mil pattern PUL from diapercuts.com and used cotton velour and french terry from verybaby.com.  I also bought the snap press from thesnapstore.com and have issues getting my snaps to set right.  Its like i'm not strong enough or something. Any advice would be great! Thanks!

Ok after doing some research i think my PUL is the issue. It is a cotton/polyester mix.  I read somewhere that cotton PUL wicks. Is that the same issue with the cotton/poly mix?

Probably- even cotton thread wicks enough to irritate me.  It really should be all polyester.  I don't have a snap press- just snap pliers and I really have to squeeze as hard as I possibly can and I am actually really strong :)  I love very baby velour- it is awesome stuff- just a bummer yours aren't working...

I know thats my other issue...i was using cotton thread!  I'm thinking i might ditch the PUL and just make the diaper and buy or make covers.

Have you tried wool covers?  They rock with a good fitted diaper under.  Mine are all longs/shortie style- so they double as pants- but seriously awesome!

No i haven't but might give it a try.  How many do you need to have? I know you dont have to wash them as often.

Maybe  3-4.  I have several because they are sooo cute!  I was lazy today and threw mine in the washer on hand wash cold and then hung them on the line to dry.  I don't bother lanolinizing them anymore- the work fine for me without it.  About every month or so they get kinda stinky so I wash them- but that is about it to the care of them.

Did you make yours or buy?  It looks like they would be pretty easy to make from the patterns i've seen online.

I 'splurged' and bought myself the Kam snap press (the big one!)  it looks like some sort of medieval device - i was so excited to use it!!  the trick for mine is you must you use 4 or more layers of fabric where the snaps are - its a PIA when making diapers - im trying to make them as streamline as possible - then i have to ad scrap fabric to the tabs to make sure its 4 layers of fabric.  i think i learned about this here  - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzLp_FedmxM
