How important is the weight limit?

My LO is getting pretty close to the rear-facing weight limit for her car seat. I don't usually weigh her very often, last time she gained 800g from one weigh to the next. Should I start weighing her more often or does it not matter too much if she goes a few hundred grams over?

Thanks.

Weight limits are set in stone, so  you should weigh her frequently.  Are you able to access a seat with a higher rear facing weight limit?

Thanks, I will. I haven't. Even able to find a seat with a higher weight limit. Australia seems to be strangely backwards in this.

Yup, that's what I was afraid of.  I know some Australian parents have imported, but I'm not at all savvy about what the process would be for you, or how much trouble you could potentially get in, LOL, so I'll let someone on your side of the globe make suggestions in that department.   For the record, how tall and how much does she weigh, if someone who knows what your next step could be comes along?

Yeah, I'm not sure. I know it's illegal but I don't know what the penalties are.

She is 11.8kg at the moment. Not sure about her height but I can measure and update if necessary. She isn't super tall though, her car seat straps are still on the second slots from the top.
