My take on the tubal is that it is still not safe but carries less risk than essure, less than an IUD and way less than a vasectomy. I have known lots of women who have had tubals with no issues afterward but, like you said, that could just be a failure to connect the dots. For me personally I think any surgical messing around with bodies is a bad idea and should only be resorted to in emergencies. As far as tubal ligation syndrome it doesn't make sense to me and I have to wonder how much of it is psychosomatic; that is not to say the symptoms are not there and it should not be avoided as something that can cause those symptoms but it doesn't make sense to me that blocking the egg from passing through the uterus would cause physical symptoms.
