The doctor wants me to take prozac for all of this! 8 days a month, before menstruation. How does that sound?
I'm scared to take it but I want to feel better...it's been a crappy 3 years.
Thanks!

I was diagnosed with PMDD about 6 months ago and my dr. prescribed prozac for 14 days a month (the two weeks prior to my period). I was reluctant to take it and in fact, I just sat and looked at the bottle for the first 2 months that I had it. I went back for a follow up appointment because I just wasn't comfortable taking it, I'm still nursing and everyone I talked to said that prozac just didn't seem like the right medicine for this kind of thing. But my dr. talked me into taking it and I did feel better for the first month. The next month was ok, but I started to feel uneasy about it again because of the nursing so I stopped again. I know that medicine can't work if you don't take it, but I read a lot about it and it seems like a good diet, vitamin supplements and regular exercise had better results for a lot of women so I wanted to give that a try. I'll let you know if I ever get that started. For now I'm really agonizing over the benefits outweigh the risks. I'll be watching this thread too.
Thank you for telling me about your experience.
I have decided not to take it for now. I want to try other alternatives first.
I've started VitB complex and St. John's Hort...meditating and excercise helps also!
Thanks!
